I can’t believe with all the firearms-knowledgeable people here that no one yet has figured it out. In an attempt to make the rules of engagement more fair, we have just begun to deploy the ML-16 combat rifle. It uses the conventional NATO 5.56 ammo, with a twist, literally. You see, with the ML-16 being a muzzle-loader, you simply twist out the bullet, dump the premeasured powder charge into the barrel, replace the bullet and ram the entire cartridge/casing assembly into the barrel. The reduced rate of fire evens out the skill level on the battlefield, and the ramrods have proven handy for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows after a long, hard day of battle.

Troops are also being equipped with Elbow-Gel, the plastic explosive in the convenient pre-measured packet. No more guessing about how much C4 to use when blowing down a door on a forced entry.

In an unrelated announcement, the DOD has decided to revamp the lineup of Meals-Ready-to-Eat (MRE’s) with a more “mideastern” flavor, Lamb & Rice, according to the manager of Purina’s Moist & Meaty product line.

Look at it like this: That picture had to have passed through at least several news people, including AFP’s editors, before it was posted. An AFP editor chose that picture as representative of the printed story. And none of the people in that chain knew anything about guns...

Well can you blame them? They have been raised from the cradle to think that guns are yucky.
