I think the issue is more fundamental: the democrats are more committed to liberal ideology than republicans are committed to conservative ideology. There is a not insignificant population of Republicans who don't care what happens on the gay marriage front, the gay adoption front, the abortion front, the illegal immigration front, or for that matter any policy - or even foreign policy - issue just so long as at the end of the calendar year, their personal wealth is greater than it was at the beginning.

I just picked up a book of Russell Kirk's essays (at, of all places, Black Oak Books in Berkeley, CA). Quite apropos of this discussion: Of course we don't produce activism like the leftist sites, do. We're
Conservatives. Conservatism is the antithesis of ideology. We don't think we can make the world wonderful by the correct set of positive laws, or by 'activism'.
Incidentally, something odd must be happening in Berkeley: the Kirk book was prominently displayed, as were two copies of Goldwater's Conscience of a Conservative,a copy of Hayek's Road to Serfdom, and a book (I've forgotten which) by Milton Friedman.

You hit the nail on the head. We are NOT on welfare, we are active in our families, jobs, churches and society in general. Our time for blogging is limited.

From what I’ve read and seen, the people who pop in and out of FR are very active! Maybe not the left’s idea of marching in the street active but phones, faxes, letter writing, face to face, putting the preasure on when things aren’t right and getting them right seems to be the trademark of the people that frequent this site. I’ve even seen FR members on the TV talkshows and heard them mentioned on call-in radio shows...FR rocks!!!

I pray that we dont evolve into the kind of rabid lockstep thats the defining character of the activist sites.I am guessing that you havent been to the Daily Dose thread, where the denizens fawn over pictures of W meeting with Chicom undignitaries etc.
And I'm guessing you have been to any immigration threads. /s

It’s just part of the playbook by the leftists. Attack, attack and attack. FR is doing just fine.
