It would seem that heavy rains would be more useful for predicting sunspots; otherwise we should just plan on the 11 yr cycle.

Advanced computer models are also suspect in the GW misinformation game. As is true with statistics, computer models are often misused in order to misinform. Because of the tedious nature of computer code and massive data banks it makes it difficult to track down the deceptions.
I was just tweaking you about overlooking something stated in the article. :-)
