Last I knew, Libertarians had gone to “neutral” on abortion. They found too many folks couldn’t join up with them because they were pro-abortion. It’s been 10 years or so since they abandoned “pro-choice” for “neutral”. Ron Paul, although always pro-life, did tone down being aggressively pro-life during his run in ‘88 run but he still spoke up for the pro-life cause plenty.

don't waste your vote on Hillary.

Most people around here are looking for a winner, but seem scared off by the D next to Her Dark Reptilesbian Overlordessness' name. If the GOP would just nominate HDRO, then these Freepeers could feel good about voting for her and they'd have their winner.

Changing the minds of people who seek abortions (do you know who that is?) is the only way.

The people that are seeking abortions are about 50% of women of childbearing age. They do it because they want to be "empowered" by chopping up someone smaller than themselves. In other words, they are evil.

It really is amazing. Look at all the women you come into contact with today. Half of them have had an abortion, even though there are numerous means of contraception available. They just want to take part in killing a small child in a most barbaric fashion.

No doubt Ron Paul IS pro-life.. which makes him a valued member of congress on this issue.. however his view on the war on terror makes him UNFIT to be Commander in Chief ..

REF: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6Hu3SQPxDI

In my humble opinion of course.... the ONLY candidate for President that is a TRUE Ronald Reagan conservative across the board is Duncan Hunter.. again in my humble opinion..

...The segment began as Joy Behar announced she “almost would vote for a Republican.” That Republican is Texas Congressman and presidential hopeful Ron Paul. Her reasoning is that Ron Paul suggested in a recent presidential debate that the United States invited the September 11 attacks. Joy felt this racist and anti-Semitic congressman was “right on the money.”

“BS! He could have done this since his first day in Congress. He could bring up a bill tomorrow morning. Has he ever introduced a bill to repeal R vs W? No.
Pandering to one-issue voters won’t get him the nomination.”

Yes, it is BS.

If we had a dictator then he’d have a shot. Besides that abortion must be at the FEDERAL level and be ILLEGAL as it used to be. This one is NOT a STATE level issue.

You and so many other Paulinistas really should not talk to others as if they’re not grown when you’re hooked up with a juvenile candidate and acting like cult members.

It gets old hearing “Well how come Ron Paul voted against this bill or that?”

Then you spend 30-40 minutes trying to find the bill and research it, then you notice there is hidden stuff in the bill that is unconstitutional and that he had a very valid reason to vote against it.

After investigating 7-8 bills like this I realize that Ron Paul actually reads the whole bill before he votes on it, unlike the people asking why Ron voted this way or that.

I guess this is the best line of attack the RP haters can come up with.

I never thought I’d see the day when a Pro-life candidate is slurred on a Free Republic thread after he writes a pro-life article.

I’ve heard the theory that Republicans don’t really want this decision overturned, because the issue has been such a reliable fund-raiser over the years.

I like RP’s committment to conservative principles, and he is very effective in congress and should use his influence there.. A lot of “good people” are unfit to be Commander in Chief.. a VERY BIG role that only the POTUS has... I am afraid that RP is so committed to his “principles” that he would ignore the advice given to him by the Commanders on the ground, and that is VERY scary... Duncan Hunter understands the GWOT better than ANY other candidate, his views on “other issues” is icing on the cake IMHO.

Yeah, Ron Paul has introduced the Right to Life Act a few times. Only person I know of who’s introduced even more is Duncan Hunter.

"Why is it he keeps voting against making it a crime to transport minors across state lines for an abortion?"

Ron Paul always considers the effect the bill would have on the power and reach of our federal government.

He has also voted AGAINST a marriage ammendment for the same reason.

As it is now, these are state issues, but by passing a federal law on either of them would have the effect of moving them into the federal goverment's perview.

Furthermore, almost every bill contains input from the "other side" (dhummies) that usually introduces way more harm in the long run.

IMO, let's keep working to overturn the very bad court ruling that started this whole mess, and keep them both a state issue.

BTW: Our Congress could, at any time they wished, overturn Roe v. Wade, but they won't do it.

I hope you now understand why Ron Paul votes the way he does sometimes, and why the Paul bashers fail to see the value in it, even when it is explained to them.

"It would take a constitutional amendment overturning a Supreme Court decision."

Not so fast, Ed.

My understanding of this is; Congress could, by simple majority, remove such responsibility from the courts.

No Constitutional ammendment is required.

"I’ll wait for a pro-life candidate that isn’t crazy."

Your statement begs for an explaination to follow. Please tell us why you think Ron Paul is "crazy".

As for waiting, be prepared to wait for a looooooong time for anyone who is a mere fraction as educated about the Constitution as Ron Paul.

My guess is; probably never again will such a candidate present himself.
