Maybe Nepal built their own subs during WW11.

I don’t recognize that design from any other countries.

Three men arrested.

Strangely enough, no names have been released. Only that they’re from Greenpoint. Home to the Greenpoint Islamic Center and a large Muslim population.

Not that I’m suggesting anything here...

Fox news report;

‘Submarine’ Spotted Near Queen Mary 2 in NYC; 3 Arrested
The vessel, with one person inside, and an inflatable boat carrying two people, were spotted near a security zone around the luxury ocean liner docked at the cruise ship terminal in Red Hook, Brooklyn.

It was not clear what the people were doing in the vessels, but police said there was no indication that the incident was related to terrorism.

A detective from the New York Police Department Intelligence Division noticed the vessels at around 10:30 a.m. and summoned the Harbor Unit.

The mysterious vessel was partly submerged and “appeared to be designed for underwater navigation,” the NYPD said in a statement.

“All three males are expected to be charged with a number of violations and both vessels will be secured by the Harbor Unit,” the NYPD said.

Photographs showed a vessel that resembled a diving bell, with a hatch on top.
WABC reported that it “was equipped with oxygen tanks.”

In other words, "we're going to blow up that big boat for Allah, the compassionate, the merciful" wasn't written in Arabic on the side of the sub.

“”””no names have been released”””

The sub, piloted by 35-year-old Philip Rey, came within 100 feet of the luxury cruise liner.

This was your idea, wasn’t it, Sub-Driver?

Actually, I thought about building a twenty-foot aircraft carrier that I could sit on the little flight deck and launch little radio-controlled airplanes from.
And this was BEFORE I served in the Navy.
I just thought it’d be cool to see the face of the tired fisherman on Lake Powell when he turns his head and sees the USS FLAGG (CV-1) cruising by him conducting flight ops....

piloted by a Greenpoint man

That his name is not included in the news report is suspicious. Perhaps it starts with an M and ends with a d.

If further reports continue to omit the name . . .

OTOH, if it's just a guy with a cool, but expensive, hobby, he sure is stupid.

What a cool idea! Testing RC WWII subs and U-boats ranging in size from 10 to 26 feet (built for use in film productions) in a local freshwater lake by some special effects guys I know made for some great fun in unsettling the fishermen ... what a sight for a couple of guys quietly fishing from a little boat in a secluded cove, to see a "miniature" submarine bigger than their own boat surface 30 feet away, only to submerge a few minutes later. I picture them looking at each other; one asks: "Did you see that?" and the other says, "No, and neither did you!" as they hurriedly gather their gear and prepare to row to shore!

“Picture link posted in #7”

Is that the luxury cruise version sub or the economy one-day-only sale craft.

Also we MUST be accurate and get the looter guy in there. And don’t forget a couple of polar bears in the water escaping global warming.

LOL—You can’t make this stuff up!
