Well, how ‘bout bending this around in your mind? The sub was a replica, so the article said, of one of the first submersible craft ever built. That sub’s made of wood pieces and it was so well made that it was controllable.
Those chaps deserve lots of prime time coverage for a remarkable reconstruction of a historic craft. Rather than dumping on them because of some “terrorist threat” line from the media, it would be more in keeping with the usual FR thread if we were to float the idea that such a craft might be an ideal purchase for a museum.
Assuming that the kleptocrats in the NYPD don’t try to steal it via the forfeiture process.
The Turtle was to attempt to affix a mine to an enemy ship by screwing a hole, so it was indeed to drill in - however the British ship, the Eagle, had been recently “coppered” and couldn’t drill through the copper.
How do you like that. It turned out to be Curly, Moe, and Larry.
I read an article that ID’d the guy as Duke Riley.
Is it this Duke Riley?
Seems like a bit of an “oddball.”
