As I understand it, NBC owns Telemundo. Universal Studios wants to rezone some property around Universal Studios for a major real estate project. All these companies are owned by GE. The city council and the mayor have to sign off on the proposal. So, the story goes ,the powers that be did not want to be too hard on the mayors girlfriend because of the pending city approvals
