Darby Conley (the “Get Fuzzy” cartoonist) had this theme running on 31 Jul and 1 Aug. The guy is wearing the "Bring 'Em Home" t-shirt and the cat is ridiculing him, calling him names and “acting like a big, mean, rude, scary conservative.” I knew for a long time that the cartoonist was a liberal. Until now the strip was still enjoyable.
I emailed Conley and told him I’m through with his comic. That also means I won’t be buying any more of his books. He must have missed the economics class where they teach you that bias = loss of customers.
Oh well, at least I still have “Pearls Before Swine.”

Methinks you’re confused in your interpretation.
The cat is following the patient, long suffering peace activist around and shouting abuse. The cat is obviously the conservative and is simply insulting the man.
I could be wrong but my interpretation is the cartoonist is implying if you support the mission you’re like the cat. In reality we’ve all seen the “Peace Activists” commit horrific acts of vandalism and verbal abuse.
The cat was shown as a Bush supporter during the 04 election. The dog, Satchel, was a Kerry supporter. The man in the cartoon supported Nader.

I could be wrong in my interpretation. However; I’ve followed the strip for several years. The work could be interpreted any number of ways. Darby Conley, the “Get Fuzzy” cartoonist, has always leaned to the left. Some of his strips have been pro UN. Other strips praised Noam Chomsky (sp?).
In my email to Conley I stated that he has every right to express his ideology in his comic. However; I will express my right to choose whether I patronize his work. I let him know that I own several of his books and I would not be buying any more.
If I want to experience conservatives painted as rude and ignorant I’ll watch the MSM news broadcasts.

Well, I for one am rather glad the ‘ol snagglepuss is giving him the what for. Seems it illustrates that the left can dish it out but can’t take it. Might make the cat a honorary viking kitty for these strips (well at least until he becomes obnoxious again LOL)
