Anyone here who doesn't think the democrats are scared of Fred Thompson had better read this screed again...

The Fair Tax will never be law, and anyone who makes it the center piece of his campaign will go down with it.

Did Senator Fred Thompson make the “Fair Tax” the centerpiece of his campaign?

I guess the DNC is too dense to read:
(original comment) ...if the House and Senate pass the 'Fair Tax' bill do you feel right now that you would sign it?' Thompson replies to the question by saying, 'Yeah, absolutely.'"
This is far different than promising to sign some pledge by the Fair Tax lobbying group. The first item is asked on how Thompson would handle legislation, the latter is a question on if he would sign a specific pledge by this group...

It is highly doubtful Thompson’s “yeah, absolutely” was in response to the FairTax question. The video looked like a fishy edit job to me from the start.

The FairTaxers are responsible for the DNC newsletter. To me they are nothing more than “prebate reprobates”.
To: mnehrling
has used a "testing the waters" status to avoid scrutiny of his campaign fundraising and thus skirt FEC laws Hillary did this before she announced she was running for Senator of New York State. She called it, "her listening tour." The listening tour did not fall under the rules of campaign finance as she had not announced. It also gave her cover to not answer questions from the media.
Perhaps the DNC would be so kind to inform Hillary of this and admonish her also.

I have always found the DNC to be a factual and truthful purveyor of news that can be spun, edited, and made up to suit there purpose, which, has nothing to do with the best interests of those who do not suffer from the brain rot so commonplace amongst the DNC constituency.

Too soon, too over the top, too shrill and mean. They’ve overplayed their hand.

The Democrats are experts on dissembling, lying and flip-flopping. They should go check in the mirror. I haven't agreed with all of Thompson's moves but allow me to add in all fairness, he's tried to be positive. The Democrats are simply incapable of running a positive politics. What they do is run around trashing every one who wants to do something good for America. Oh - and yeah, I think getting rid of the federal income tax could well be the best thing to ever happen to our country.

I think the video is legit, it just isn’t what the spin doctors are claiming.. Thompson wasn’t agreeing to sign some pledge, he was asked what he would do if a fair tax bill passed the house and senate.. two different things..

I have to agree, it really seems the DNC and the left liberal media are focusing the majority of their attacks on Fred, trying to discourage his run.
He’s the only real threat they face.

He’s obviously not. He’s smart to disclaim that position.
To: mnehrling
Two different camera shots are edited together between the question and the answer, and Thompson isn’t even looking at the guy who asks the question when he said “yeah, absolutely.”
If this group wants to release a continuous unedited video of the exchange, then maybe we’ve got something. Otherwise, it should be filed away next to Michael Moore.

Did Senator Fred Thompson make the Fair Tax the centerpiece of his campaign? If you watch the supposed pledge, the way it is edited, I doubt if Fred even understood the question. There is just something that is not right.
To: counterpunch
It is highly doubtful Thompsons yeah, absolutely was in response to the FairTax question. The video looked like a fishy edit job to me from the start. It is kind of weird that when the guy is asking the question it looks like he is all alone, and then when Fred answers the guy is in a crowd. Just something was not right with it. Regardless, I doubt Fred even understood the question. He was just walking by greeting people.
