I think they do have a form of “scales” but they aren’t like bony fishes. Just off the top of my head i think they’re called denticles due to their tooth like appearance.

lol.... No, that part I am sure of. Ever hear of shark skin suits? Ever wonder why they don’t make Tuna skin suits? It’s because Tuna have scales that make tanning their skin impractical. Shark skin on the other hand is perfectly scaleless and very tough and durable when tanned.

This refers to scales that can be removed from the fish without tearing the skin. Scales that are one with the fish and cannot be removed without tearing the skin are not called kaskeses.
