In the lawsuit, Patricia Conradt said NBC was “concerned more with its own profits than with pedophilia.”
Duh! Yes, that would be true.
Entertainment trumps justice.
He didn’t appear! Hey people the show must go on!
My word, if ever there was a dreadful program idea, this is it.
I have seen parts of it once - and the premise and the format made my skin crawl.
Can a show like this one really do any good?
NBC is always shilling for the criminal justice system.. whether supporting trial lawyers jackpot victories or finding entrapping people to throw more people behind bars.
Now they get to defend themselves in the ‘justice’ system!
“A pedophile killed himself. Is there a downside here?”
Was he a pedophile or was he some chump who had a pedophile pretending to be him? This article does not make that clear. (I would not expect it to.) Does anyone know?
At the very least, it can prove to parents why the Internet is not a safe playground for their kids. At best, it can inspire people who do not simply "catch and release".
It’s friggin’ Jerry Springer justice.
These shows are crap and take “journalist” away from being neutral reporters to being enforcers and they should lose their collective butts in court IMO.
Justice and the legal justice system are two separate entities, as are the Truth and facts.
If he wasn’t a pedophile, why did he kill himself?
Proof is in the pudding.
The downside might be the coincident creation of an unknown number of electronic voyeurs who will want something even “better” next time. And NBC will try to provide it.
“Can a show like this one really do any good?”
Absolutely! When these freaks of nature start trying to diddle a kid, the fact they may be talking to the perverted justice folks plants the perfect seed of doubt in the back of their sick heads. If you can figure out a better way to educate a huge number of people on how these child raping idiots operate, lets hear it. So the news org makes some mony by getting the word out...big deal. The potential gain outweighs the cost.
CApitalism works...let it do its job.
From the article: Two dozen men were arrested, but the district attorney refused to prosecute any of them, saying many of the cases were tainted by the involvement of amateurs and that he lacked jurisdiction in most cases because neither the suspects nor decoys were in the county during the online chats.
So I guess not.
“If he wasnt a pedophile, why did he kill himself?”
Because he was not fully screwed down right and the thought of being believed a pedophile by everyone was more than he could take.
I am not saying he was not a pedophile, but there are reasons other than being a pedophile for killing himself.
“go after him anyway for the ratings”
They don’t go after them for ratings. They go after them because they’ve already committed a crime.
Well, if an assistant county prosecutor was pursuing 13-year-old boys for sex, and is now no longer, I’d say that is a good thing.
Yes, it does. Many have been prosecuted over the years. And it gets children and parents aware of the problem.
