The only problem I have with this President is his inability to deal with the illegal immigration issue the right way. Maybe I just don’t understand his motivations on that issue. But as for just about everyting else, he has been a good President, despite what you may hear and see in the media and from the far left types.

He does have a good heart and thinks it is the right thing to do, unlike Kennedy, Hillary, Reed etc who only want to grant the illgals amnesty because the illegals would then vote democrat

The 2008 election, however, scares me. Those who villify the President now will be even less happy next year. Unless Fred Thompson runs, there is not one single good Presidential candiate among the whole lot — that includes both parties. I’m expecting we will have a socialist Democrat in the White House in 2009, and it may well be Hillary. Four more years of Clinton rule will be far worse than eight years of George Bush. You can take that to the bank. (Well, actually, if Miz Clinton does get elected, you won’t have a bank to go to once she destroys the economy.)

It scares me me too. If Hillary gets elected, and signs point to that she will. I guarantee you that those on our side who bash President Bush wished he were back in office

you’re no American.

You’re a bush worshipper, someone who is shoving amnesty down American throats, against their wishes and will; someone who’s determined to remove American sovereignty, via the SPP he signed....heading for a North American Union, without the people’s consent, against the Constitution.

Any person whose purpose is to dissolve American sovereignty and smash the Constitution is a traitor.

"That’s President Bush to you, not Bush"

You singled out my omission - why? Do you have a point to make?

It’s BDS, kind of like political porn, I think it gets them off, lol. Sort of like Dims and RINOS over the top frothing, calling the Pres treacherous, traitor, for his hanging and impeachment.

““Hi Howlin” Could be OhioWFan as well, has the same rabid tenor she had.”

I was thinking nopardons. Some of laurie_D’s previous posts brag about “being a conservative longer than most of us have been alive”, which was one of NP’s favorite declarations.

"If I wanted to see bush Bashing, I’d turn on CNN. Got that? REMOVE ME from this cesspool." Wow, first you abuse FR continually on this thread and then you challenge the lead mod to remove you from this forum. Is somebody keeping you from leaving and going back to the pathetic RINO blog you came from?

All I did was quote his own words and platform and I’m bashing him?

Our men and women in uniform, and I know quite a lot of them, having been one for the majority of my adult life, deserve the Commander in Chief who campaigned in 2000. They deserve the clear goals, realizable objectives, favorable rules of engagement and defined exit strategies described in the 2000 Republican platform.

I and the other military members I know agree completely with this Republican 2000 platform statement on the military:

“Even the highest morale is eventually undermined by back-to-back deployments, poor pay, shortages of spare parts and equipment, inadequate training and rapidly declining readiness.”

Too bad the administration hasn’t fully backed the rhetoric with action.

Or some "badge" of honor on her regular posting site.

... “I’ll see you at the bill signing.”

You do know that a bill has to go through both houses before it is presented to the president for signature don't you? If you don't then you are ignorant. I expect that from a liberal but not from a conservative. But then perhaps you are not a conservative.

If it passes through both houses and reaches the president and he signs it, put the blame where it belongs. On the republicans in the house and the Senate who went along with the rats and voted for it, not on the president. What good is it for him to veto a bill if it is not veto proof and congress can overide the veto

If the President had simply disagreed with me about amnesty, admitted it was amnesty, and fought honestly for amnesty I’d be incredily irritated but my mood towards him would be different. That “good man” instead chose to deny it was amnesty, insult my intelligence, and label me an unpatriotic bigot. Excuse me Mike if that removes all incentive to cover his back.

I AM supporting the war, and I WILL have Bush’s back and McCain’s back and anyone else I’m not happy with who stands against withdrawal. But not so much because I’m in it to protect them, but because I’m in it to protect winning this war. Outside of that, Mike, you really don’t have the right to expect me or any conservative to do much else on their behalf. Any support we give them from this point will be based on the merits of what they are promoting. Not on the perceived character of the man, or because the Dems get some kind of high when he’s critisized by the right. If the President doesn’t want to be critisized by the right, it’s simple enough to stop. Start acting conservative.

We agree on the judges. I mentioned that this issue would probably be his greatest legacy. My point on tax reform is that while he went in the right direction, he didn’t finish the job by making the cuts permanent. Many of them, most notably the estate tax, have expiration dates. His top domestic priority was Social Security reform. The Republicans had control of Congress and he couldn’t get them to deliver. Not sure how badly he really wanted it. You mentioned that the Republicans in Congress abandoned him on this issue, but they also abandoned him on immigration and that didn’t stop him.

Here’s directly from whitehouse.gov:

Social Security:

* President Bush Is Working Hard To Strengthen Social Security For Future Generations. President Bush has made Social Security reform a priority of his second term so no American who works his or her entire life will have to retire into poverty. The President’s plan combines progressive indexing with voluntary personal retirement accounts to ensure that everyone’s benefits continue to grow and everyone has the opportunity to build a retirement nest egg that he or she can own and control. There will be no changes to Social Security for those born before 1950.

Taxes:

* President Bush Has Called On Congress To Make His Tax Relief Permanent, Repeal The Death Tax, And Reform The Tax Code. Making the President’s tax relief permanent will help continue our economic growth, and the President believes the American people deserve a tax code that is simple, fair, and easy to understand.

Immigration Reform:

* President Bush Supports Comprehensive Immigration Reform. The President has called for a comprehensive, integrated approach to reform our current immigration system. This would strengthen border security to ensure legal entry, build a robust interior enforcement program to ensure compliance with the law, and fill an economic need for willing workers through a temporary worker program.
