To answer the rhetorical question, we do lose, big-time, but maybe not for good. But how much more blood and treasure will it cost is to go back? What's really at stake is our credibility and our faithfulness. If a bunch of murderous psychopathic ragheads can chase us out of Iraq, what good are we? Who will stand with us against the islama-whackos when we have shown we turn tail and run when the going gets tough? And I am in no way disaraging the troops, who have done a magnificent job. I am talking about the pusillanimous craven spineless politicians in Washington whose only concern is continuing their own reign.

Some moral choices are simple. Blowing up civiians and beheading journalists are among them. Anyone who hides behind geopolitical complexity on that one goes to the back of the class and keeps her mouth shut.

I must confess I don't see the logic in your conflating the ponderous bureaucratic labyrinth that was the Soviet Union with the small, agile, anarchic cells of terrorists who bedevil us now -- and who in fact humiliatingly drove the Soviet Union out of mountainous Afghanistan.

Huh? In one sentence she seems to dismiss the "small, agile, anarchic cells" as insignificant, and in the next sentence she notes that they drove the Soviet Union from Afgan. Liberals.........consistently inconsistent.

Were it not for the disastrous impact of a Shia/Iranian takeover of the Gulf States on the global economy, and the need to deal effectively with Iran’s nuclear ambitions, it might actually be fun to watch the showdown between the Sunni/Al Qaeda/Wahhabist faction on the one hand, and the Shia/Iranian faction on the other. It would be even more fun to watch Israel slap down the “victor” of that disaster.

As I recall, being chased out of Afghanistan by the ragheads was the beginning of the end for the old Soviet Union. They never really recovered from that defeat. Our fate will be similar if we get chased from Iraq.

First up, there's logic: 95 percent of the Earth's greenhouse gases is that ethereal substance known as H2O. Peek out your window -- you might be able to see a little bit of it. Without it, the Earth would be a balmy zero degrees F (ice skating galore). Of the remaining 5 percent greenhouse gases, 4.5 percent is attributed to CO2. Of this 4.5 percent, only 0.3 percent is caused by human activities such as burning fossil fuels, mowing Al Gore's lawn, belching, etc. The remaining 4.2 percent of CO2 emanates from the Earth itself. If 0.3 percent sounds insignificant, it's because it is.

Faults in the convenient references: Al Gore (and the U.N.) exclusively use Antarctic ice-core data of ancient air bubbles supposedly trapping the precise amount of CO2 that existed then versus now. This data set has recently been shown to be flawed by experiments proving that those ancient air bubbles did not encapsulate the CO2 but allowed some of it to escape, thus making the data look as if modern CO2 readings are significantly higher (20 percent) than in the past. More reliable proxy indicators for CO2 such as ocean sediment do not show a significant increase due to human activities.

The onset of global cooling: As the word cycle suggests, there will be a downside to the Earth's warming cycle. Most analysis indicates that in five years' time the warming peak will be over and any left-wing environmentalists left standing will have to find a new donkey to ride into the wallets of industry.

Let me finish by saying that the prior and coming relegation of the Democrats to a kook fringe is in no one's best interest. Although a conservative on defense and economics, I tend to be socially liberal and have an innate fear of a one-party state, even if that party is the one I usually vote for (I amaze my friends by telling them how I voted for Ed Rendell here in Pennsylvania).

As a rigid defender of ALL rights enumerated in the Constitution of the United States and Bill of Rights, I firmly disagree with your assessment. First, a law-abiding citizen should never have to be forced into a "fair fight" with a criminal. Those who choose to do violence on their brothers and sisters to make a quick buck or to satisfy a primal itch should be rewarded with the title of "most hazardous job" in the country. Should they be resisted by citizens armed with Glocks, SIGS, AR15s, SPAS 12s and HK 94s, [that] would show me a population preoccupied with the defense of its life and liberty.
From another letter posted in this piece. The letter is much longer, and very good.

I truly love this land, but I must remind you, we behead our unborn. It is a great flaw that many are fighting against, but it is barbaric, and it is legal, and also, I hope, temporary.

Definately millions because the intelligence agency guys in the know and who give a damn tell us it is a matter of ‘if’ and not ‘when’ we are attacked at least with at least a dirty bomb.

OK, so let’s say it goes off in Times Square during a big event and 60,000 die. 2,000 die from the blast but then 40,000 die a slow death within a week of radiation poisoning (no cure) and another 10,000 or so within several years of cancer from the radiation. Not to mention the radiation area will spread to almost all of Manhatten making it unihabitable for at least a few years. We may just overreact to that one and use some nukes of our own on those responsible, considering our ecomony will suffer near depression and armies and foreign wars cost money so it might be our only option left to ensure the survival of our nation. Perhaps Russia and China may decide to finish the job and use it as the excuse as being the only responsible nations powerful enough to stop the loose cannon of the USA. I know, I think too much but I live in faith not in fear (amen).

Such idiots the left is and it’s so crazy and ironic that their is so many of them in Manhatten. The poor dumb animals who think they are so bright were not awakened with 3,000 deaths. Perhaps 60,000 of us dying because the muslims don’t understand the lefts ‘sophistacted sensitive geopolotics’ will do the trick for them but then again perhaps it won’t.

The free version of “AntiChrist: Islams’s awaited Messiah” is a very good read. It completely blows away the standard Christian view of the end time as portrayed in the “Left Behind” books. Its time for people to wake up.

i always accepted a Biblical End Time though i was never happpy with the Revived Roman Empire scenerio and could never feel comfortable with the various metaphorification of Babylon as well as the disconnected Gog war.

With Islam in the picture, it all gells together so much more smoothly.

Yes this becuse NO ONE of "TELLYPREACHERS" NEVER REALLY UNDERSTOOD
(Rev 17:9)  Here is the mind that hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth:
(Rev 17:10)  and they are seven kings; the five are fallen, the one is, the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a little while.
FIVE ARE FALLEN
EGYPT
ASSYRIA
BABYLON
MEDO PERSIA
GREECE
ONE IS
ROME at JOHN'S TIME
but ROME ceased to exist ONLY in 1453 when OTTOMAN SULTAN Mehemet II conquered CONSTANTINOPLE.
so THE SEVENTH KING is ISLAMIC
and since the BEAST is from the SEVEN we have a glimpse whence HE COMES....
The image “http://purl.pt/4059/1/cc-1317-a_JPG/cc-1317-a_JPG_24-C-R0150/cc-1317-a_0001C3_1_p24-C-R0150.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

"BEGLERBEY de DAMAS" in french means "Governatorate of DAMASCUS"
so THE BEAST and THE SYRIAN.....
ARE THE SAME AND ONE PERSON!
