Long before current foreign policy - indeed, long before this country was even born - the terrorist scourge we face today had it's antecedents in a history that existed hundreds of years before.
The problem with so many of these ferbil-brained eunuchs is that they actually believe that history started when they were born. Or, worse yet, began when they looked around, saw a world with problems, and decided they not only had the answer, they were the answer.
This is not a "clash of civilizations"; this is history re-enacting itself, with barbarians crashing at the gates of a "civilization" that seemingly has suicide on it's collective mind.
There are those, however, who can see past the din of political correctness and the embracement of Western suicide, and a good many of them can be found on this site.
I do not mean to impugn your integrity, intelligence, or sense of history. You were, after all, just pointing out Paul's view. Whether you subscribe to such views is another story for another time. But one irreducible truth remains after all this is melted down: It is not possible to offend those who are sworn to our extinction, and are determined to see it through to the end, whatever that end might be.
I repeat - the barbarians are at the gates, and we succumb to their assaults at our own peril.
