What was so “silly” about this question? Roody’s politics are roughly in line with Joe Lieberman’s and Roody is actually to the left of Dick Gephardt and Tom Daschle.

What's silly is that you use find bizarre, unfunny nicknames to somehow attempt to disparage people you don't like. And what else is funny is that you don't know a thing about Rudy's politics, other than one issue that is rather trivial to most people.

Is Rudy (note the correct spelling) to the left of Gephardt and Daschle on fighting the terrorists who want to slaughter us and convert this country into an Islamic Republic? Is he to the left of them on cutting taxes? Or on cutting the welfare state? Nah, he's to the left of them on a rather tangential issue that almost never has any affect on the lives of the people who screech the loudest about it.

And what's both silly and sad is that people like you would rather let the likes of Hillary Clinton in the White House, just because your type sees no difference between her and Giuliani on that one minor issue.

i am glad to see this article on his Catholicism. and i hope that Donoghue is right that Rudy would be TOO SMART to attempt to take the sacraments. i don’t care that he is a lapsed Catholic, but if he tries to portray himself as practicing, there should be consequences. His disastrous marital history and his proabort stance both disqualify him from being a practicing Catholic.

i saw Fat Ted at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception while with my kindergartener’s school field trip there, and i was waiting for the lightning bolt to strike him right in front of me! all in God’s time i guess...

I don’t think Roody realizes it yet, but Catholics and Evangelicals are going to play a far more pivotal role than they have in the past. And they are not going to vote for a pro-abortion candidate. This notion of “the lesser of two evils” is an absurd crock of sh*t — evil is still evil.

Y’know, I don’t much care for Giuliani, but I wouldn’t dare presume to state what God thinks about him.

“It seems strange that no one ever questions the status in the Church of Ted Kennedy or John Kerry.”

I know what you are saying, but remember that this is a liberal rag t.p. substitute. Normal people question murder supporting pols all the time. Also keep in mind that the Church hierarchy are simply fallible men when it comes to enforcement of Church teaching, unfortunately this is all too obvious.

i wouldn’t presume to state what God thinks of him either, but should he attempt to hold himself out as a practicing Catholic, that would be a gross misrepresentation. rudy receiving communion would be every bit as offensive as when Clinton received it. Neither of them is “in communion” with the Catholic Church’s teaching [and yes, i know, Clinton is a Baptist.]

And what else is funny is that you don't know a thing about Rudy's politics, other than one issue that is rather trivial to most people.

Which "one issue" are you referring to? His support for homosexual marriage, that the overwhelming majority of the country opposes? His attempt to destroy the Second Amendement, which the public also doesn't support? His support of illegal aliens which more than three-quarters of the country opposes? Or his support of the wholescale slaughter of 3500 infants A DAY? And if 50 MILLION abortions in 34 years is "trivial" to you, then I would be very interested in knowing what you consider to be important. Remember, more Americans are killed in abortuaries EVERY DAY than died on 9/11.

Is Rudy (note the correct spelling) to the left of Gephardt and Daschle on fighting the terrorists who want to slaughter us and convert this country into an Islamic Republic?

Gephardt, Daschle and Lieberman all support the war on terror.

Is he to the left of them on cutting taxes? Or on cutting the welfare state?

Where is Roody's proposal to cut taxes or welfare?

Nah, he's to the left of them on a rather tangential issue that almost never has any affect on the lives of the people who screech the loudest about it.

Really, Social Security is in real trouble in large part because an ENTIRE GENERATION of 50 MILLION Americans has been slaughtered. Companies have been hiring illegal immigrants to deal with the labor shortage brought on by ENTIRE GENERATION of 50 MILLION slaughtered Americans. I'm curious, how many people are affected by these two issues.

And what's both silly and sad is that people like you would rather let the likes of Hillary Clinton in the White House, just because your type sees no difference between her and Giuliani on that one minor issue.

I guess you weren't aware that there are real conservatives who are candidates for the GOP nomination? I hadn't heard the "we have to run a liberal like Rudy or we wind up with Hillary" line in a while, I thought most of the FRiberals had left.

Oh, I agree with you completely. I just wouldn’t have put the headline like that. (Which is surprising, considering I ordinarily like being a bomb-thrower.)

well i doubt the Village Voice knows from Catholicism, it would have been more apt had they said he’s on the outs with the Catholic Church. and let me tell you i have long been on wafer-watch in re;rudy, because that will totally infuriate me if he would use his faith for political reasons, and i do think it’s entirely plausible he might.

Why would you be a "bomb-thrower" when you've got all those cool swords?!

Wow. I've never seen so much ignorance and arrogance packed into one post. For one thing, Rudy is most definitely not in favor of gay marriage, abortion or destroying the Second Amendment. I challenge you to find legitimate proof that he is.

"Pro-abortion" means that someone is in favor of abortion, thinks it's a great idea and that there should be more done. I dare you to find proof that this is Rudy Giuliani's belief.

He has repeatedly said that he is not in favor of gay marriage, but please don't let facts and reality get in your way.

If you actually bothered to learn facts before spouting off, you'd know that Rudy cut taxes in NYC more than 20 times. And by the time he left City Hall, the number of people on welfare was a fraction of what it was when he was elected. But, again, that gets in the way of your "Rooooody is an EEEEEEEEEEVIL liberal" fantasies.

I can only imagine what your definition of a "real conservative" is -- and then I thank G-d that your type is a fringe minority.

I'm not a liberal, but then again, you haven't been right on much here anyway, so I consider the source.

Do you know why Rudy thinks abortion is wrong? I’d like to know his reasons for hating abortion.

Rudy is most definitely not in favor of gay marriage, abortion or destroying the Second Amendment.

You are even more delusional than the other FRiberals. At least they acknowledged that Roody was a liberal. "Pro-abortion" means that someone is in favor of abortion, thinks it's a great idea and that there should be more done.

Liberals just love "newspeak."

He has repeatedly said that he is not in favor of gay marriage, but please don't let facts and reality get in your way.

I don't think Roody has the foggiest idea what the institution of marriage really is, so his statements on "civil unions" vs. marriage are irrelevant to me.

And by the time he left City Hall, the number of people on welfare was a fraction of what it was when he was elected.

I hate to break the bad news to you, but it was CONGRESS forced Clinton to sign welfare reform, welfare dropped NATIONWIDE. Roody had nothing to do with this.

Yes, I know that. But it doesn’t explain why you felt the need to do your best Cindy Brady imitation and be a tattletale.

Are you trying to get rid of any and everyone who disagrees with you? That’s too bad, because honest debate (look into it some time) is a great way to hone your arguments.
