Holy Crap! No power, no telephone, civil defense sirens going off, and the car wouldn’t start? I would have assumed an Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP)
attack had just occured.
I’ve heard rumors that Iran is plotting an EMP attack on the United States. I wouldn’t put anything past those nut jobs in Iran.....or Chavez in the People’s Republic of Venezuela for that matter.
I have not had enough coffee today for all this, now where is my tinfoil and duct tape?! :)

I always found it odd that the EAS was not activated during 9/11. IIRC a decision was made not to “panic” the sheeple.
Regardless, the President was whisked to an Air Force base bunker and for the -first- time in US history the Continuity of Government Plan was initiated. Many rumors and stories of second tier bureaucrats forming long lines entering Mount Weather and other COG bunkers.
I have always thought that the Feds had information that a -nuclear- threat was associated with 9/11.
IMHO the 9/11 attack did not rise to a COG level event, unless there was more of a threat than we were led to believe. EAS however, should have been activated to reassure the public with accurate and timely information from an official source, but it wasn’t.
Why have EAS?
I like 'All Things Considered'. When I listen to NPR, I consider it opposition research.
So I’m not the only one who has noticed Cheney is MIA.
It’s ironic that Feinstein and Hillary are outraged by “right-wing” radio yet they don’t have a problem with NPR.
And our tax dollars pay for that NPR propaganda. Imagine if tax dollars were used to pay for Rush.
When I was in the EMS, we had a dispacther who wasnt very smart. One early Sunday morning, she saw a button that was marked “Mon Yough” Being the moron she was, she hit it to see what would happen.
Well, it set off tones for about a dozen Fire and EMS services. It was a Diaster Tone that was only to be used in the event of a really large incident.
People were less than amused....

I’ve gotten many a “heads up” on what the next liberal trend is going to be by listening to who the guests are on NPR. It seems to be a preferred place for them to float trial balloons.
Well, the whole government, make that America, was in scramble mode. Perhaps they were too occupied and just forgot about the EAS.
But yeah, you raised a good point. If anything called for an EAS, it was 9/11.
