They wussed out. What they should have done is update the story to reflect the new information. Instead, they retracted it because it was too “complicated.”

Last week, a German court sentenced a 55-year old Lutheran pastor to one year in jail for “Volksverhetzung” (incitement of the people) because he compared the killing of the unborn in contemporary Germany to the holocaust.

He wouldn't be a real hit in official ELCA circles, either, where the denomination's health care plan pays for abortions for any reason up to 20 weeks.
