Mitt is not different. He is exactly like every other RINO.
Wow! Less than two minutes! Personal best?
Nah, I can do better.
This piece reads like a tenth grade paper for Civics class. It’s all cliches.
He’s “exactly” like Rudy? Please explain.
> Mitt is not different.
But his positions soon will be.
Mitt Romney has problems, and he can’t work himself out from under them. The one piece of video, where months after he claimed to have a change of heart on abortion he was still supporting choice, disqualifies him as an honest candidate. And for a GOPer to win in ‘08 the tightrope is long and windy, and Mitt has already fallen off on numerous occasions.
See #8.
And yet he has double digit leads in NH, IA and CA. But then you’re all aware of that; hence the automatic “Mitt-sucks” childishness. Your guy isn’t ahead so, tear the front runner down.
That ad, the one with the “change of heart” statements and then the date certain quote that make a lie of it, hasn’t been thrown up by any of the candidates. It will be at some point, if not by the GOP then by the dims, or even Bloomberg!, if Romney gets the nomination or VP nod. Too much baggage. If he gets the nomination, I’ll be right there with you on his side, but only to stop the libs from fulfilling their dream.
I agree Mitt is very different...i first knew of him from a town hall meeting here in NH many years ago before he was governor of MA...he showed up took notes and listened to the issues that people addressed. I think he was just trying out the idea of entering politics and quite thoughtfully too...which is different.
... The one piece of video, where months after he claimed to have a change of heart on abortion he was still supporting choice, disqualifies him as an honest candidate. ...I disagree. It proves that he is honest, to a fault maybe. :)
Recently, I was attacked by one of my opponents because when I ran for Governor I promised to maintain the status quo with regards to laws relating to abortion in Massachusetts. Of course, I kept that promise. But in Massachusetts, that meant vetoing pro-choice legislation – as I consistently did as Governor.Excerpt from Governor Mitt Romney's Remarks At The National Right To Life Convention Forum, June 15, 2007
Today he's not. Tomorrow is another story....
We certainly wouldn’t want a leader who acted on firm moral conviction. We want someone who will govern by polls and public opinion. Someone who will say anything to get elected and then maintain the status quo even if he knows its wrong!! Guess that means Mitt’s our guy... or Bill Clinton. He perfected that approach after all.
The tape I’m referring to is one where Mitt comes out as personally pro-choice. This was said months after the time he now claims to have changed his mind during the stem cell debate. He could spin it as you have, and will probably have to do so. But one of the topics or motives on this thread concerns primary support, and he won’t have mine before August of next year.
In this regard, Mitt minces his words.
I like the guy who says Roe v Wade should be overturned and who has not only recently come to the realization of this truth.
If Mitt has come to this realization sincerely, then that’s great and good for him. As for being President of the United States of America, I prefer someone who has always known this truth, because it is that important and it is not negotiable. Let the hollow reeds blow in the winds of popularity. Sheep and goats know how to turn away from what threatens their life, human beings with reason know enough to turn away from what threatens theirs.
The Second Vatican Council itself, in discussing the respect due to the human person, gives a number of examples of such acts: “Whatever is hostile to life itself, such as any kind of homicide, genocide, abortion, euthanasia and voluntary suicide; whatever violates the integrity of the human person, such as mutilation, physical and mental torture and attempts to coerce the spirit; whatever is offensive to human dignity, such as subhuman living conditions, arbitrary imprisonment, deportation, slavery, prostitution and trafficking in women and children; degrading conditions of work which treat labourers as mere instruments of profit, and not as free responsible persons: all these and the like are a disgrace, and so long as they infect human civilization they contaminate those who inflict them more than those who suffer injustice, and they are a negation of the honour due to the Creator”.
Front runner? You’re reaching Reaganesque....really reaching.
Good Second Vatican Council quote. Now if we can only get that whole statement into the party platform in ‘08!
