Hezbollah seen buying up future battlegrounds

LONDON SUNDAY TELEGRAPH - CHBAIL, Lebanon - Hezbollah is buying up large tracts of land owned by Christians and non-Shi’ite Muslims in southern Lebanon as the militant group rebuilds its defenses in preparation for a new war with Israel, local and national officials say.

The land grab is thought to be driven by the Iranian-backed guerrillas’ efforts to rearm themselves and fortify the strategically important ravines north of the Litani River, just north of the front line in last year’s 34-day conflict with its Jewish neighbor.

Here, Hezbollah has been free to press forward without harassment from the 13,000 U.N. peacekeepers and 20,000 Lebanese army troops who were deployed south of the Litani as part of the cease-fire agreement that ended the conflict.

Just south of the Litani, the U.N. force is conducting hundreds of patrols each day in a bid to keep Hezbollah out of the area, but the peacekeepers’ mandate ends at the river. The Lebanese army, meanwhile, is about 50 percent Shi’ite and seems to be turning a blind eye to Hezbollah’s activities north of the river.

In these rugged gorges, the group appears to be readying for Round 2 with Israel, and many fear it is not far off after the inconclusive end to last year’s war and reports of Hezbollah rearming.

The area’s forested wadis, or valleys, make ideal terrain for Hezbollah’s brand of guerrilla warfare and, just 10 miles from the border, are within rocket range of Israeli cities.

The Shi’ite encroachment into a mixed area of Christians, Shi’ites and Druse Muslims threatens to disrupt Lebanon’s delicate sectarian balance, which is already teetering after three years of political tumult.

“Christians and Druse are selling land and moving out, while the Shias are moving in. There is an extraordinary demographic shift taking place,” said Edmund Rizk, a Christian member of parliament for the area until 1992.

On a scenic, sparsely populated ridge, the farming village of Chbail was once Christian. Today, the land belongs to a wealthy Shi’ite businessman with purported ties to Hezbollah. Its new residents are recent Shi’ite transplants from the Hezbollah-controlled south.

Entry to the village is forbidden to outsiders - not by the Lebanese army that technically holds sway here, but by the “chabab,” the plain-clothed, bearded youths who act as lookouts in Hezbollah territory.

“The village is closed for security reasons,” said a youth who recently moved from a Hezbollah-controlled area near the regional capital, Tyre.

On the western edge of Chbail, a metal sign strung across an unmarked dirt track warns in Arabic: “Entry forbidden. Hezbollah area.” The closure is manned by a pair of teenage gunmen in olive green fatigues, armed with walkie-talkies and AK-47 assault rifles.

The buy-up of land in Chbail and half a dozen Druse and Christian villages is said to be the work of a wealthy Shi’ite businessman, Ali Tajeddine, who made his fortune trading diamonds in Sierra Leone before returning to Lebanon and starting a successful construction company.

Mr. Tajeddine, who keeps a Hezbollah charity box in the waiting room of his Tyre office, is seen as a major player in Hezbollah’s massive reconstruction program called Jihad al Bina, or the Building Jihad.

During an interview, Mr. Tajeddine denied any connection with Hezbollah and said his projects at Chbail represent just a fraction of the dozens of developments he is building throughout Lebanon.

But his distinctive arc of land-buys around Hezbollah’s new stronghold triggered alarm among the district’s Christian and Druse leaders, who say he is using Iranian funds to buy land from destitute villagers at up to four times the going rate. Druse sheiks responded by forbidding the sale of land to Shi’ites, and wealthy Christians were asked to buy property in the area to stem the Shi’ite tide.

In Chbail and two neighboring Christian villages, Mr. Tajeddine already bought 200-300 acres of land, according to the mayor, Kamil Fares. In the Druse village of Al Sreiri, the mayor, Hafed Kiwane, told a similar story. “We have nothing here, so it was good to see money coming into the area, but now we fear there are suspicious motives,” he said.

Among the Hezbollah settlements is the fledgling village of Ahmediyya, where a billboard in Hebrew warns Israeli invaders: “Do not enter.” Dozens of housing units were built there in the past year. A supermarket is open for business, and 10 Shi’ite families have moved in so far.

Critics fear that Ahmediyya will further stretch the Shi’ite reach to the northeast, as part of a grand scheme to create a strip of Shi’ite-controlled land connecting the south to Hezbollah’s other power center in Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley.

“It is part of Hezbollah’s plan to create a state within a state,” said Walid Jumblatt, a Druse leader. He also pointed to the four-lane road being built to connect the Hezbollah stronghold of Nabatieh in the south to the western Bekaa.

Banners openly proclaim the source of the road’s funding: “510 km of new roads paid for by the Iranian Organization for Sharing in the Building of Lebanon.”

Would Iran’s Guards Strike U.S. Targets in Lebanon?

The Commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Gen. Rahim Safawi, who met Hizbullah’s deputy chief Sheikh Naim Qassem at a religious conference in Tehran, has threatened the United States with “Stronger Punches” and an Iranian dissident expected the group to strike in Lebanon.
Safawi made the remarks in an interview with the Iranian daily Keyhan stressing that “America will receive stronger strikes and punches from the Revolutionary Guards in the future.”

“We will not remain silent in the face of American pressure and we will use all the force we have to confront the Americans. The Revolutionary Guard Corps has a tremendous power … and we have sophisticated weapons,” he said.

Meanwhile, Iranian dissident Mohsen Sazghar, who was one the Revolutionary Guards founders, said the guards would escalate attacks against U.S. targets in “Afghanistan, Iraq and Lebanon” is retaliation for labeling the group a terrorist organization.

In a related development, Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Saturday described Israel as “the flag of Satan” and said the Jewish state was destined to fall apart.

“The Zionist regime is the flag bearer of violation and occupation and this regime is the flag of Satan,” Ahmadinejad told an international religious conference in Tehran, which was attended by Qassem and other religious figures.

“It is not unlikely that this regime be on the path to dissolution and deterioration when the philosophy behind its creation and survival is invalid,” he said.

His comments came in the wake of a 30-billion-dollar arms deal between Israel and the United States which explicitly mentioned the threat of a “resurgent” Iran.

Washington and Israel, which is widely considered to be the Middle East’s sole if undeclared nuclear power, are increasingly alarmed by Iran’s nuclear program, which they suspect is a cover to develop atomic weapons.

Tehran insists the program is for peaceful, civilian energy purposes.

“The United States understands that Israel lives in an increasingly dangerous region... where Iran is resurgent, where Iran is seeking a nuclear capability, where it is seeking to expand its conventional power,” U.S. Under Secretary of State Nicholas Burns said before signing the memorandum of understanding for the aid package in Jerusalem on Thursday.

“There is now a nexus of cooperation between Iran, Syria, Hizbullah... and other groups that are responsible for conflict in this region,” including the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, Burns said.

With current U.S. defense aid to Israel standing at 2.4 billion dollars a year, the new package will raise the value of assistance by 600 million dollars annually on average, officials said.

Iran also is the ostensible reason for Washington’s controversial plans to install a missile defense system in Eastern Europe, a move which has sparked fierce condemnation from Russia.

The U.S. military wants to build a radar station in the Czech Republic and a launching site in Poland with 10 long-range interceptors capable of shooting down missiles.

It claims the system would defend Europe against attacks from limited missile strikes by smaller military powers such as Iran.

Ahmadinejad claimed on Thursday that if deployed, the U.S. system would threaten all of Asia.

“Such a plan goes beyond threatening one country. It concerns most of the continent, Asia,” he said at a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), according to a translation by organizers.

Iran has observer status at the SCO, which comprises China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

Iran consistently refuses to recognize Israel’s right to exist in the Middle East, and Ahmadinejad sparked outrage in the international community when he said Israel should be “wiped off the map” shortly after coming to power in 2005.

In June he said a “countdown” had begun that would end with Lebanese and Palestinian militants destroying Israel. His government last year hosted a conference on the Holocaust, questioning the German Nazi genocide of the Jews during World War II

Arrest over fatal house explosion - UK

The arrested man was not named....

Arrest over fatal house explosion

David Leggett died of smoke inhalation
A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal explosion in a
building in north London.
David Leggett, 52, a builder of Potters Bar, Herts, was rescued from
the rubble in Lancaster Road, Enfield last week.

He died later from smoke inhalation. Three others suffered burns and
remain in a serious condition in hospital.

Officers have been speaking to local residents and handing out
leaflets to get information about the incident. The building
collapsed after the explosion.

The arrested man is being held a north-east London police station.

Police launched a murder inquiry and were treating the explosion as
suspicious.

Detectives said they were investigating whether an explosive device
had been placed in the building or whether it was an arson attack.

‘Potential witnesses’

The three-storey building housed a tattoo parlour in the ground
floor and homes on the floors above.

Officers are appealing for information about a red Mark 3 Ford
Escort seen leaving the scene in the direction of Lavender Road,
between 0500 and 0600 BST on Saturday.

A man in his mid-30s was also seen running from the building and
getting into the car which was driven by another man.

Det Insp Bob Mahoney said: “In particular we would like to talk to
two men wearing white T-shirts who were walking past the location
just before the explosion occurred.

“They are potential witnesses and may have information vital to our
inquiries.

“We are also keen to speak to anyone who may have visited the tattoo
parlour in the last few weeks.”

He also praised the members of the public who rescued the three
injured people, a man aged 25, and two women aged 27 and 54, from
the building.

One person climbed up a drainpipe and helped a 54-year-old woman off
a balcony into an adjoining property.

Shin Bet nixes Olmert’s planned summer vacation in North Italy

Haaretz, Last update - 20:40 19/08/2007
Shin Bet nixes Olmert’s planned summer vacation in North Italy
By Yossi Verter, Haaretz correspondent
http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/894980.html

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will be forced to spend his summer vacation
next week - all five days of it - within the walls of the chilly,
ceremonial fortress known as the Prime Minister’s Residence, at 3
Balfour St. in Jerusalem.

Olmert does not want to go to a Galilee bed-and-breakfast, so as not to

ruin the vacation of thousands of Israelis with the Shin Bet’s extreme
security measures. The prime minister’s motorcade (a recognized
nuisance
in the capital) ran over a young girl who was crossing the street at
the
entrance to the city on Friday.

Olmert’s original plan was to spend his vacation in Italy. He wanted to

rent, and pay out of pocket for, a house in a remote part of northern
Italy for a quiet week with his family. His aides held a serious
discussion about every aspect of the trip, from public relations to
security and diplomatic-foreign relations. His men believed the move
could send a message of reassurance to the Syrians: If the prime
minister is vacationing abroad, he is not readying for war.

The Shin Bet was instructed to explore the issue, discretely, with
their
Italian counterpart. The PM naively thought he could take a few
bodyguards with him to his vacation home and hang out there, with the
Italian police and security services seeing to wider security concerns.

He even discussed it with his Italian counterpart and friend Romano
Prodi, who encouraged Olmert to come.

But after making inquiries, the Shin Bet informed the prime minister
that it would not be so simple. If you go, they told Olmert, we’ll have

to send a Hercules with three armored cars and dozens of security
officers. At that point, officials in the Prime Minister’s Bureau
realized that their problem wasn’t Syria, it was with the legions of
Internet jockeys who would be chasing after Olmert from their keyboards

with axes, pitchforks and flaming torches in various Web forums. The
vacation plan was dumped immediately.

Many world leaders vacation in other countries - Mitterrand and Chirac
in the Caribbean; Schroeder, Merkel and Blair in France or Italy;
Sarkozy spent his recent vacation in New Hampshire. American presidents

spend their one-month summer vacations far from the White House in
Washington. But the Israeli mentality cannot tolerate this. Olmert long

since realized, fortunately for him, that the kind of foreign vacation
that the Shin Bet had planned for him would cost the Israeli taxpayers
hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not more. And that’s the last
thing
he needs right now.

Center for Delinquent Boys Evacuated - Iowa

Center for Delinquent Boys Evacuated
By Associated Press
12:41 AM EDT, August 18, 2007
DES MOINES,
Iowa - A center for delinquent boys was evacuated Friday night after
15 or more people were hospitalized with vomiting and nausea,
authorities said.

David Morlan of the Boone County Emergency Management Agency said
the cause of the sickness at the Woodward Academy has not been
confirmed but a gas leak may be to blame.

Academy officials said the boys were moved to Woodward-Granger High
School while a hazardous materials crew examined the building.

Mandy Moses, the academy’s executive director, said staff and law
enforcement were responding, but that she knew little else.

Morlan said that 15 to 20 young men in their late teens and early
20s were taken to local hospitals but did not have serious injuries.
Jennifer Perry, an Iowa Methodist spokeswoman, estimated about 50
child and adult patients were taken to Iowa Methodist Medical Center
and Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines with the sickness.

The academy is about 30 miles northwest of Des Moines. It offers
programs ranging from 90 days to 18 months and works with boys 12 to
18 years old.

This mite just be what’s itching you
By James Janega | Tribune staff reporter
August 15, 2007

The mystery nibblers have interrupted a pool party in Bolingbrook
and picnics at Ravinia. They’ve been blamed for itchy splotches from
western Kane County to Michigan vacation grounds. They’ve attacked
in Willow Springs, Chicago Heights and La Grange.

Nobody knows exactly what’s causing the rash of rashes, but
authorities think they’ve got a good idea of what they’re dealing
with, anyway—and they warn that it’s likely something small,
invasive and really annoying.

Biting mites.

Reported cases (pdf)
“We don’t have positive identification on the type of mite that it
is. We do know that it is a mite,” said Kitty Loewy, spokeswoman for
the Cook County Department of Public Health.

Scientists haven’t been able to catch one yet—they are incredibly
small—but the belief that mites have invaded Illinois is based on
the telltale rash that develops after the bites.

Abdullah Orders Compensation for Rash of Camel Deaths Saudi Arabia

Abdullah Orders Compensation for Rash of Camel Deaths
Arab News

JEDDAH, 17 August 2007 — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King
Abdullah has ordered the payment of compensations to the herdsmen
whose camels died recently showing symptoms of consuming toxic
substances, the Saudi Press Agency quoted Minister of Agriculture
Fahd Balghunaim as saying yesterday.

Deaths of a large number of camels were reported from Wadi Al-
Dawasser governorate and other places after they showed symptoms of
poisoning.

An official of the Agricultural Ministry dismissed the presence of
any camel disease in the region and attributed the mysterious deaths
over the past few days to a cattle feed containing toxic substances
supplied in markets of the region.

Muhammad Al-Shaiha, assistant undersecretary for animal resources at
the ministry, said in a press statement on Wednesday: “On receiving
reports of animal deaths the ministry sent a veterinary team to
inspect the animals and found that the deaths were caused by the
spasm of the nervous system, which led to a state of paralysis, loss
of consciousness and eventual death.” He said the animals that ate a
particular type of feed have shown the symptoms. “The deaths are not
caused by any type of illness.”

Al-Shaiha said that a total of 232 camels died while several other
camels responded to treatment by the veterinary team, according to
the Arabic daily Al-Watan.

The official said the team sent samples taken from the dead animals
for further investigations.

On the other hand, Ali Al-Hasawi, a member of a veterinary team that
treated a number of cases in the region, said the right treatment
for the disease could not be decided without getting the results of
the laboratory tests and identifying the real cause of the
deaths. “The results of the laboratory tests will soon reveal if the
deaths are caused by any toxic feed or by some virus spreading in
the air. Reports indicate that the disease is spreading in a
noticeable manner in different regions in the Kingdom,” the
veterinarian said.

Meanwhile, local residents complained that the animal bodies posed a
serious environment threat in the region. They say the foul odor
from the carcasses is spreading in the villages making it impossible
for people to move about freely.

Abdullah Al-Saeed, an official of the local municipality, said that
steps were under way to burn and bury the bodies.

Thanks to Milford421 for this report:

Health officials baffled by child’s mysterious skin rash
By AP
8/16/07
LAWTON (AP) — A skin rash on a young patient that doctors originally
feared was smallpox still has not been identified, state health
officials said Friday.

Test results for the virus used in the smallpox vaccination came
back negative, said Kristy Bradley, state epidemiologist.

The child arrived at Lawton’s Southwestern Medical Center emergency
room Tuesday evening with a skin rash that resembled smallpox. The
rash, including open sores, was on the child’s face, neck, arms and
legs.

Initially, doctors feared the child, whose age and sex have not been
disclosed, had contracted smallpox, a disease that has been
eradicated in the United States since the 1950s, and isolated the
patient. The hospital was shut down for several hours.

Officials later believed the child had contracted the vaccinia virus
from a family friend who is a Fort Sill soldier and had recently
been vaccinated for the disease in preparation for reassignment to
South Korea.

Vaccinations for smallpox ended in 1972. The military began
vaccinating troops again in 2002 out of fear that terrorist groups
might use the smallpox virus in biological warfare.

Khatami: Failure of socialist movements led people to embrace Islam

In the 1960s Sayyid Qutb in Egypt wrote that both capitalism and socialism had failed and that Islam was ready to assume a role of world leadership. Now Khatami explains how this is in full swing.

From IRNA (thanks to James):

Head of the International Center for Dialogue of Civilizations Mohammad Khatami said on Saturday that failure of the socialist and nationalist movements have led world people to embrace Islam.

He said in his statement to the Thirteenth Seminar of Baran Foundation that despite the fact that followers of different religions live in the Middle East, the region has assumed an Islamic identity in the course of history.

“Nevertheless, the resistance to aggression on the Middle East territories by foreign forces to forge dominance over the region has served to found such an Islamic identity.”

He said that colonialism has actually faced with the wall of Islamic identity in the Middle East.

“Though the Islamic identity can go in parallel with the positive aspects of the Western civilization, Western politicians do not accept any dispute due to their selfishness, especially when their interests are challenged.”

He said that the self-esteemed Western politicians see themselves entitled to stir up Islamophobia and violence against Muslims, so Islam has been exposed to damages owing the Western and Zionist campaigns.

Not that Islam has done anything to provoke negative reactions. Not that Muslims have committed any violence of their own in the name of Islam. Oh, no.

Jihadists granted amnesty by Olmert will fight on

Another example of how fantasy-based policymaking just doesn’t work.

“Terrorists: Amnesty shamnesty! We prefer human slaughter: Militant leader says organization granted ‘free pass’ by Olmert won’t disarm,” by Aaron Klein for WorldNetDaily.com (thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist):

JAFFA, Israel – The Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terror group will not disarm or cease attacks on the Jewish state in spite of an amnesty agreement forged with Israel last month in which top Brigades members pledged to turn in their weapons and refrain from attacks, a senior Brigades leader told WND.

“We respect our leaders but will keep fighting until Israel withdraws completely from the West Bank. We are the resistance. We will keep fighting and never give up our weapons until Israel withdraws,” said Ayad Frehat, a Brigades leader in the West Bank city of Jenin.

“Whenever the Israeli army acts in the West Bank, we will fight side-by-side with our brothers from the other resistance movements,” Frehat told WND.

Frehat is on a list of Brigades members presented to Israel for amnesty consideration.

Last month, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert granted amnesty to 178 members of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the declared “military wing” of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah’s organization, in exchange for pledges not to engage in terrorist activity.

The Brigades, along with Islamic Jihad, has taken responsibility for every suicide bombing in Israel the past three years. The amnesty agreement reportedly was made as an Israeli gesture to Abbas’ and to bolster Fatah against Hamas in the West Bank.

Israel issued documents for the 178 Fatah fugitives to sign, pledging their resignation from any so-called paramilitary organizations. The wanted militants – who comprise much of the senior Brigades leadership – also were required to turn in their weapons, spend a week in a PA holding area and restrict their movements to the area in which they reside for three months. After that, they would be allowed to move freely throughout the West Bank.

Muslims were in America before Columbus!

“Islam in America before Columbus” by Hisham Zoubeir appears this week in the Muslim Weekly (thanks to all who sent this in), but actually it has been making the rounds for years, and can be found on many Islamic sites.

Zoubeir claims that there is archaeological and linguistic evidence for a pre-Columbian Muslim presence in North America. I don’t know of any scholarly refutation of the claims he makes, and for all I know they could be true, although they recall Khrushchev-era Soviet propaganda about how the Russians actually were the first people to do just about everything.

Zoubeir’s article may seem to many to be simply an exercise in chauvinistic overreaching until one realizes that to some Muslims who take his claims seriously, America is now Muslim land — and Islamic law stipulates that Muslims possess by right any land that once formed part of the House of Islam; this is a key element of the claims to Israel and Spain put forward by Hamas, Al-Qaeda, and others. Chauvinistic overreaching, yes, but quite possibly with a political agenda.

Imam puts ‘unlimited reward’ on Taslima’s head

What the heck is an “unlimited cash reward”? Is the Imam Syed Mohammed Noorur Rahman Barkati going to give the killer of Taslima Nasreen all the money in the world? Meanwhile, he demands that she be deported and threatens to set up a roadblock in front of her home.

And why all the threats and terrorizing? Because she “exposed Indian Muslims to ridicule and contempt” and defamed “Islam and the Prophet.” It doesn’t seem to occur to the Imam Syed Mohammed Noorur Rahman Barkati that he might deal more effectively with whatever threat to Islam he thinks is coming from Taslima Nasreen by refuting what she says, or at least debating her and making his case while she makes hers.

But in India as in the United States, Muslim spokesmen who take umbrage at statements by non-believers don’t seem interested in debating their opponents and taking the opportunity to demonstrate the truth of what they’re saying and the falsity of what their opposition is saying. Instead, in a manifestation of utter intellectual bankruptcy, they resort to threats. Legal threats instead of death threats here — for now at least.

An update on this story. From Rediff.com (thanks to all who sent this in):

Charging her with defaming Islam and the Prophet, an Imam in Kolkata on Friday declared “unlimited reward” on the head of Taslima Nasreen, the controversial Bangladeshi writer. Taslima was attacked in Hyderabad last week.

Speaking at a rally after the Friday prayers, Syed Mohammed Noorur Rahman Barkati, imam of the Tipu Sultan Shahi Masjid, also demanded that the writer be deported from the country in a month.

“If our demand is not met, there will be an unlimited cash reward for whosoever kills her. The United Progressive Alliance government at the Centre and the Left Front government in the state will be responsible for the consequences,” he told the gathering at Esplanade, in Kolkata.

‘If you harbour Taslima and Rushdie in India, then drive away all the Muslims from this country,’ a banner at the rally said.

Alleging that Taslima had exposed Indian Muslims to ridicule and contempt, the imam threatened to organise a road block in front of the writer’s residence in Kolkata after the month of Ramzan.

AP: Psych Clinic Releases Russian Activist

Psych Clinic Releases Russian Activist

August 20, 2007

MOSCOW (AP) - A member of an opposition group led by the former chess
champion Garry Kasparov was released Monday from a psychiatric clinic
after being held against her will for 46 days, a spokeswoman for the
group said.

Larisa Arap, 48, a member of Kasparov’s group in the northern port city

of Murmansk, was forcefully hospitalized July 5 in what opposition
activists said was revenge for exposing alleged abuse of children in a
local psychiatric hospital.

Her case was taken up by human rights defenders, who saw in it echoes
of
the Soviet-era practice of locking up dissidents in psychiatric
hospitals.

Arap was released Monday from a psychiatric hospital in Apatit, a city
180 miles from Murmansk, and was picked up by her husband, said Marina
Litvinovich, a spokeswoman for Kasparov’s United Civil Front. Arap was
moved to the hospital farther from her home in late July.

Arap’s release came after a commission, sent by human rights ombudsman
Vladimir Lukin to look into her case, said it found no reason for her
forced hospitalization.

Her family had appealed her detention in court, but the request for her

release was denied.

Arap was bundled into an ambulance on July 5 after visiting a doctor to

secure documents attesting to her mental health as required by Russian
law in order to receive a new driver’s license.

When the doctor realized she was the one who had criticized conditions
at the psychiatric hospital in an article published in an opposition
newspaper, the doctor called the police, according to her daughter,
Taisiya Arap.

Other members of Kasparov’s group, including Kasparov, have been
detained by the police, but Litvinovich said Larisa Arap was the first
to be held in a psychiatric clinic.

David Beckham & Justin Timberlake Targeted By Al Qaeda

Criminal influences on young Muslims...

Justin Timberlake, David Beckham and Puff Daddy are targeted in a new video released this week by a radical Islamic website that promotes attacks on Westerners.

News of the World reported that soccer stars David Beckham and Wayne Rooney and music stars Justin Timberlake and P Daddy are the targets of a new Al Qaeda murder plot:

A terrifying internet video call to action for supporters of Osama bin Laden also fingers ex-Arsenal striker Thierry Henry for assassination.

It was launched this week on a Glasgow-based website named after al-Qaeda that regularly supports attacks on Westerners.

It has also been uploaded to the massively popular YouTube video-share site, visited by millions of youngsters.

The sports stars are branded EVIL for being CRIMINAL influences on young Muslims.

The sick film shows a picture of Manchester United ace Rooney with the headline: “Why do u love the evildoers?”

Beckham, who is now at LA Galaxy, is shown under the caption: “What made u among the losers?” And the slogan across an image of Henry asks: “Why do u imitate the people of desires?”

Alarmingly the video then flicks to a series of graphics depicting graveyards and bodies. One shows the feet of a CORPSE on a mortuary slab with a toe tag marked “Death”.

A caption across the screen threatens: “Every soul shall taste death.” Much of the soundtrack is a sermon given in London recently by a young militant cleric linked to radical Omar Bakri Mohammed, barred from Britain after praising the 7/7 bombings.

His rant declares that Muslims who are passionate about sport or music are hellbound like the “disbelievers” they admire. Other celebrities rubbished on the video include P Diddy and Justin Timberlake. It ends with the rousing message: “Rise up, oh youth!”

Russian Communists Plan to Honor Chavez & Castro

The Russian communists may think the dictators in Cuba and Venezuela are super...

...But, the opposition members in Venezuela clearly oppose the latest move by the Marxist Chavez to obtain absolute power.

El Universal reported today that the Communist Party in Russia is planning on using pictures of Castro and Chavez in the upcoming elections:

The Russian Communist Party plans to use the pictures of Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez, Cuban ruler Fidel Castro, and Belarus’ President Alexander Lukashenko for the upcoming election campaign to the Duma, the Russian Chamber of Deputies, reported Tuesday communist leader Guennadi Ziuganov.

The party made such a decision because these persons are “the most successful leaders,” Ziuganov reasoned, Russian news agency Interfax quoted.

The Russian Communist Party has good chances in the election for Parliament next December, particularly in Siberia, said Ziuganov during a press conference in Novosibirsk.

It’s not clear what the Russians meant by “most successful.”
Maybe it has something to do with Hugo’s latest move to keep himself in power for the next 20 years.
