But consider the enraged father who hunts down and kills the wrong guy? A totally innocent person is dead. What now?
Father stands trial. Found guilty. Sentenced to death. Executed. Real killer is still roaming the streets. Second innocent man killed. Now what?
(I couldn't resist.)
I respect his being a standup guy in taking responsibility in the aftermath - he must clank when he walks - but in light of his chosen defense, too bad he didn’t allow his lawyer to delay his trial until after the molestor’s case had been adjudicated.
With the molestor’s conviction, he *might* have gotten a jury nullification. A better chance at it, anyway.
I don’t blame this man for his actions a bit. This guy needed hanging if he raped this guys daughter.
Wish I'd been on the jury. It'd be hung or 'not guilty'.
If you aren't bright enough to come to the conclusion on your own, then you're just going to have to trust me when I tell you that we're much better off having a trial and evaluating real evidence than we are with a hot-head with a gun.
Did it occur to you that all the other molested girls are kin to the would be shooter and only came forth after their uncle was charged? Couldn't be protecting him could they? nah.
Now, maybe they aren't, and maybe this guy is really guilty. The point is that a jury is better suited to sort it out than a parent blinded by rage.
You said it yourself, "if he raped...". The question before us is that if a man blinded by rage following the accusation is in any shape to make that determination? I think anyone with a cool head readily understands that the answer must be, "No!".
It was mentioned, however, that the cousin raped other relatives.
No regrets, admitted to everything and ready to accept whatever punishment comes his way. I can't help but admire this guy........
I'm just glad he didn't kill the kid because he's not the type of person I want to see behind bars for the rest of his life.
After my prior post I guess I have to ammend it. I'd have approved of his actions AFTER the kid was found guilty.....
I know a really nice guy who worked at my plant who had a real nasty divorce. He was accused of molesting his daughters girl friend and was thrown in jail for it. The judge, a female, actually called him an evil monster who should not be allowed on the street since she too was convinced Andy was guilty. After all was said and done, turns out the ex-wife talked to the little girl and convinced her to lie about the alleged molestation..........
So it does happen
Perhaps protecting themselves. You seem to have no idea the power an older relative can have over his young victims.
You are protecting him more than they are.
Oh, and if you were bright enough you would see that I agree with your position, just not the self righteous condescending attitude you use to push your point.
Thanks for trying to bring sanity to an insane thread. The majority of the comments on this thread are shameful and sickening. Sheesh.
