Ever notice that the commies are increasing their demand for oil while their pathetic leftist minions are screaming at you trying to get us to decrease our demand for oil?

This phony “energy crisis” is as big a fraud as the same crap we heard back in the 70s.

Technology will reduce the breakeven price, and when the spot market approaches that price—when gas prices have made life intolerable to the fat center of the American constituency—those reserves will be opened up and the world will stabilize in a new paradigm. Prices will drift lower from there.

That’s fundamental economics/politics. The chicken little crowd just wants something to scare the living ***k out of Congress to preserve their funding.

No its not. I read there is more oil under the red rocks of Utah and Nevada than there is in Saudi Arabia! What are we waiting for ? Just tear up those National Parks and erect oil derricks. And build some refineries close by ...

Lol! Silly me! I thought the main thrust of the article would be that we're exploring so many other avenues of energy creation that we wouldn't need as much oil anymore.

Guess I'm just a glass half full kinda guy and the lefty authors are just glass half empty kinda guys.

On the bright side though:

A WORLD WITHOUT OIL COMING SOONER THAN PREDICTED...,

..... and islam goes back to camel humping in their tents for eternity!

” PAPER: A WORLD WITHOUT OIL COMING SOONER THAN PREDICTED... if we don’t start exploring and drilling for more oil.. and expand of refining capabilities “ there now, fixed.

Oil hasn’t peaked. It’s just that the left is so piqued about oil.

“The oil locked up in the oil shale and tar sands in eastern Utah, western Colorado, and northern Alberta dwarfs in size the crude oil reserves of Iran, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia. When the cost of a gallon of gasoline reaches about $5 a gallon, it will be economically feasible to exploit these reserves. That’s with current technology. As the technology improves, the economic break-even point will drop.”

Yes, America need not worry. I’d rather make it competitive now, and end the power in the middle east.

Didn't we hear this "doom and gloom" too many times in the past?

Thanks to improving oil extraction technology--especially gas injection using steam and CO2--we can turn supposedly tapped-out oilfields back to profitably again. And we've barely exploited the oilfield offshore, and yet to really exploit the oilfields in Siberia and in northern Canada. All these could increase the known reserves by 300% or more! And that doesn't include exploiting tar sands and oil shale and liquefying coal into fuel.

google FROZEN METHANE HYDRATE.

The worldwide amounts of carbon bound in gas hydrates is conservatively estimated to total twice the amount of carbon to be found in all known fossil fuels on Earth.

This estimate is made with minimal information from U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and other studies. Extraction of methane from hydrates could provide an enormous energy and petroleum feedstock resource. Additionally, conventional gas resources appear to be trapped beneath methane hydrate layers in ocean sediments.

I find it strange how a supposed informed journalist never bothered to mention this energy source that makes oil reserves look tiny in proportion.
