He's now suing the U.S. for $5 million, but the Bush administration is hoping to bargain him down to $10 million.

Reminds me of last silent auction I went to at the synagogue.

The vendor wrote down the minimum bid hw dould accept, and the patrons scratched it out and wrote down succedingly lower numbers.

“Illegal aliens might want to rethink Bush’s amnesty plan. The only Hispanics Bush seems to prosecute are the ones who are law-abiding U.S. citizens.”

It’s a painful process, to be betrayed by a president you worked to support.

Ann Coulter is in classic form. The Laura-George vignette is just funny. Her comments about the Albanians remind of the movie "Wag The Dog," in which the American President declares war on Albania to get himself out of a sex scandal. And here I was thinking Jorge W. might declare war on some country to get himself out of the amnesty fiasco. Who knows. As they say, life is stranger than Hollywood.

In addition to giving the illegal-alien drug smuggler full immunity to testify against U.S. Border Patrol agents, the government gave him taxpayer-funded medical care for his buttocks wound, an unconditional border-crossing card, the right to sue the U.S. for "civil rights" violations and a GAP gift card.

Deputy Sheriff Gilmer Hernandez shot at the tires of a van full of illegal aliens, inadvertently wounding one of them. Sutton prosecuted Hernandez. The government proceeded to give the illegal aliens green cards and $100,000 each.

The actions of this administration are so utterly insane that it's hard to discern when a satirist is using rhetorical exaggeration. I frankly believe that the only hyperbole in the above quotes is the thing about the GAP gift card.

Ann must have thought, "How do I satirize this border bungling administration when they write and act out their own satire?"

The only thing that makes sense to me is something pretty off-the-wall -- like THIS theory from jebeier:

Was Amnesty Bill a Strategery? - VANITY
FR ^ | 6/9/06 | jebeier

Perhaps this whole Amnesty business is a sublime and supremely cunning strategery.

Now, I know you all may want to dismiss the possibility out of hand, but bear with me for a moment...

By promoting this bill, in one fell swoop President Bush has managed to:

a) Get almost the entire Democrat caucus in the Senate to come out in favor of Amnesty, which is very unpopular,
b) Forever link his old arch-nemesis, John McCain, to this very unpopular bill,
c) Get somewhere close to 80% of Americans to oppose Ted Kennedy, and
d) Kill the possibility of comprehensive immigration reform for the forseeable future.
And all it has cost him is a few points in the public opinion polls, which is irrelevant because he will never run for office again.

Now the Republican field (except John McCain) can run against the President of their own party in 2008 by opposing him on this issue. The 800 pound Iraqi gorrilla has been replaced by a 1600 pound illegal immigration gorilla.

And the vast majority of Republicans (besides John McCain) are in a much better position to debate on this issue...

Bush is nutso on the illegal issue.
I think he feels he knows better than anyone else about what is best, but in this case he is inept IMO.

He's inept in more than just this but immigration is a big issue. 1. Bush said, "Islam is a religion of peace" 2. Signed McCain-Feingold 3. Harriet Miers Supreme Court Nomination 4. Kennedy's Education Bill 5. Tax cuts weren't made permanent and more Just a couple of years ago a column like Ann Coulter's would have been flamed by a large number of members on this forum. It's good to see to conservatives questioning Bush's judgment or maybe it's his integrity or both, I just don't know. The result is I can't trust Bush.

Jorge Bush has become the object of contempt and ridicule of those who were his staunchest defenders. That is the price of sleeping with your enemies, mortal enemies such as Teddy Kennedy. Jorge Bush, is the Spanish speaking water carrying butt boy for Teddy Kennedy. Bush may be only person Kennedy associates with that speaks Spanish.

Quite the fantasy.

Unfortunately, that's all it is. If Bush wanted to actually prevent any move toward immigration 'reform,' without any real trouble, he could...um...I don't know...maybe...

You know, some of us quit on the guy with Miers. I think we were ahead of the curve, but there were others who saw it from the start, like billbears and freepatriot32, who deserve a little respect for their prescience. You sure don’t see a lot of ‘Bots around here spouting off any more about how Bush is an ideal bannerman. So let me get their Flavoraid distributor par excellence over here to put in his two pesos! C’mon, Johnnie! Tell us how Ann is the AntiChrist for being against the amnesty, er, ‘comprehensive immigration reform,’ and how those durn Border Patrol ruffians were understandably top priority for federal prosecution over drug-running illegal aliens. The RNC pays you good money to shill for El Presidente Jorge—earn it! Expose Ann for the know-nuthin’ she is, you cute li’l votary, you!

I have been wondering too where the Bushbots are. I was even accused for years of being a closet Democrat because I dared to question some of GWB’s previous initiatives. I sorely regret ever having voted for him for anything. I guess Pat Buchanan was right to vacate the GOP when he did though I hated to see him do that. Pat has been right far, far, far more than GWB.

Many of his staunchest defenders are now silent. They are trying to figure out how to get back in the cheerleading business just like their Cheerleader-in-Chief. Sorry, there is nothing to cheer: when those Border Patrol agents rot in prison, no American is safe under this administration.

I question everything about GWB. I would expect many more betrayals before liberation day on Jan. 20, 2009. And I shudder to think as to who the brilliant American people will give us to be “liberated” with.
