One can’t look deeply into the structure of the cosmos and the nature of reality and not be moved at a spiritual level.
Carl Sagan said the (nearly) the very same thing, and continued by saying that the cosmos is all there is, was, and will be. That we are made of this star-stuff, and that’s why we have a yearning to know more about it.
Ah, the my way or the highway approach to faith and religious belief. A shame, really, that some are unable to recognize truth from allegory.
What other parts of the gospel do you consider allegory? Did Jesus really die? Did he REALLY come back, (conquer death), and by doing so free us (mankind) from our death in sin?
Or was that allegory as well?
The Bible is written in black and white text, with lots of red later on. It is what it says it is, and has been proven to be what it says it is time after time.
Lord knows I do things I shouldn’t, I’m tempted, and fall. It’s by the grace of the Lord (via Jesus) that I am able to continue on, in communion with Him. It’s NOT an allegory.
As I said, we use the knowledge that is given, such as to heal.
There have been many that sought to prove that there is no God, that the Bible is just stories. Many of those may not admit it, but their lives were changed by the search. They either accept the Truth, or harden their hearts.
IMHO, this “life” is a test, just as the Garden of Eden was. God speaks to us in many differnt ways. Satan tempts us daily. It is our decision to follow in Jesus footsteps, or not.
God gave the doctor the talent, and the drive to heal others. I pray about being sick, and go to the doctor when/if I must.
Most of this knowledge was discovered by science - it wasn’t derived from reading the Bible.

I believe, and it’s compelling. But, proof? No.
What a nut.
He probably makes much more selling books than he loses in salary for his nuttiness.

They're not supposed to invoke God in their formal research, but that's very different from not believing in God.
Ah, well, what’s one more nutcase thrown into the fray.
Why do you think the peoples of the Middle East did not eat pork? Until recently, if pork was not fully cooked, you could die from eating it. The Bible helped to save lives. The Ten Commandments are just common sense.
Try reading it. You might learn something. Lighten up, which means, let some light in your heart.
Uh, why would Carl Sagan say anything about being moved at a spiritual level, and then say something that indicates the spiritual level doesn't exist? Seems a bit of a contradiction.

Come to think of it, the clip has to have a way to get from the desk to the coat closet .... a sock would be the perfect vehicle.

Did you see the series “Cosmos”? All of these were from Carl Sagan. Frankly, if you read these three, which doesn’t belong?
“The cosmos is all that is or ever was or ever will be.”
“It is very hard to look at the beauty, intricacy, and subtlety of nature without feeling awe. I don’t think even the word reverence is too strong.”
“Our feeblest contemplations of the Cosmos stir us-there is a tingling in the spine, a catch in the voice, a faint sensation, as if a distant memory, of falling from a height. We know we are approaching the greatest of mysteries.”
Nah, don't watch much TV.
Frankly, if you read these three, which doesnt belong?
Uh, I don't see any quote that says anything about a spiritual level. If there were such a quote (which your post seemed to imply), I would say that one didn't belong.
