No subject is more important. Except perhaps our success in the middle east.

Well, I’ve tried repeatedly over the past hour or so to call the WH line; it’s always busy. And since this is my cell phone, I’m calling it quits.

I hope it’s being busy means many more like me are calling to give our 2¢ worth.

Keep this alive! Unfortunately I like many others have to work for a living, and drive 160 miles to do it one way. I’ll be in Gillette, WY by this afternoon. Taking my government phone numbers with me.

CALLER: I just wanted to say that we should inform Mrs. Feinstein that our current policy, our current immigration policy is already racist. It's very much in favor of our neighbors to the south border.

Yes. This is something I've thought for a while. The racism is on the side of the amnesty pushers. There are a lot of people from all over the world who are losing out to illegal border crossers, who tend to be Mexicans or Central Americans. This is unjust.

If you want to talk about poverty, there are certainly poorer people in China, India, even the Philippines (and Filipinos, being from a former U.S. territory, ought to get special consideration, IMO).

Any plan which legalizes existing illegal aliens is discriminatory against all these people who would like to come to the U.S., but live farther away.

The WOT: I never broke ranks. I just couldn’t understand why GWB wouldn’t answer his critics.

Putin: I never broke ranks, but I could never understand what GWB saw in him; his soul? Give me a break.

The Meiers nomination: I never broke ranks although I couldn’t agree with the choice.

The AG AG situation: I never broke ranks although I could never understand why AG wouldn’t go after America’s enemies.

Immigration: This has been the last straw. My eyes have opened and I see GWB for the blue-blooded globalist he is. You fooled me more than once George, but never again. Shame on you. I’m gone, bud, and may the legacy you created follow you for the rest of your useless life.

“My two Senators are Obama and ‘Turbin’. My calling them would be a lesson in futility. “

I think not at all... By calling these senators you make them aware of the heat on this, and makes them less willing to go ‘out front on this’. That alone is helpful, even if Obama and Durbin are sellouts, open borders fanatics and socialists.

I also dont understand the idea of leaving the Republican party, when 80% of the GOP senators did the *right* thing and 80% of the Democrats did the *wrong* thing ... We need more ‘precision-guided activism’ . IMHO, defeat the individuals who are the sellouts.

See OPERATION PAYBACK: http://travismonitor.blogspot.com/2007/06/operation-payback.html

To make sure that the dragon of amnesty-for-illegals is really slain, here is what the conservative Republican base needs to do. We need ... OPERATION PAYBACK:
1. Defeat Lindsay Graham in the GOP primary.
2. Defeat Chuck Hagel in the GOP primary next year or force him to quit.
3. End John McCain’s presidential hopes.
4. Defeat all pro-amnesty Democrat Senators next year. They include:
- Biden, Durbin, Harkin, Kerry, Lautenberg, Levin, Reed.
5. Serve notice to all other ‘squishy’ GOP types that their misbehavior on immigration must end and we must have a united GOP behind the idea of “Enforcement First”.
6. Continue to pressure the White House to give up their Amnesty-Jihad. No rhetorical support for a White House that disses its own base, until it throws in the towel.

Since you are in Illinois, pay special attention to #4! This bill is opposed 2 to 1 by the American people. If someone runs against Durbin on this issue, he would lose.

As I was reading the comments it occured to me that at least “nutcases”, regardless of how one defines them, have a right as American citizens to voice their opinions.

What is happening with President Bush now is that he is allowing citizens from a foreign country have more power to influence national policy than actual American citizens. Even though the illegal aliens show their contempt for our laws and our national sovereignty, what is in their best interests is of priority for Bush. We can be disregarded as “nutcases”.

Please reread my post. I never said I've left the party, I said I 'WOULD' leave the party should GWB and Congress pass this POS legislation. That means that there would be a sufficient GOP YEA vote and that will turn me away.

I'm already an Independent in mind. All it will take is for this bill to pass, and I'm gone on paper. As far as I'm concerned, the best thing that could happen to the GOP is their well of funding running dry. Let them feel the pain for their ignoring the electorate. Then, maybe, we'll begin to see some change. But until that pain bears fruit, I will have no confidence or allegiance to the GOP. Sorry.

“I don’t mean to be defeatist, but I know a tiny bit about politics. One way or the other, this thing is going to be passed, if not now, at some time in the future. That is how the system is.”

Don’t be defeatist! Without the grassroots energetic opposition to this crappy bill, it would have been passed already. The people *did* make a difference, and the Senators have acknowledged that. Notice also that 10 Democrats peeled off to the ‘no’ side on cloture. Even the Dms arent willing to cross the people on this. Graham getting booed, Chambliss and Alexander and Bennett getting ‘shocked’ by the public reaction in townhalls and at campaign events. Senators noting he flood of communication, 98% of it against the bill. The “bargainers” came in May 20th with a ‘grand compromise” and within 2 weeks, it was in shreds.

We won the battle, now the jury is out on if we will win the war. They will try to pick up the pieces and do it behind closed doors. Our job is to tell them to give it up, and to tell the opponents of this to get vocal about opposition.

And know this: The longer this drags on, the harder it will be for them to pass it... So keep the pressure on. It DOES make a difference!

Okay, I hear ya. I guess I wont ever give up on being a Republican, because my veiw is stay and fight to kick the *other* guys out of the party.

“As far as I’m concerned, the best thing that could happen to the GOP is their well of funding running dry. “

I agree. No money for RNC or NRSC right now.
What you can do instead is to support the individuals who are doing the right thing.

Believe me, I understand that. But I'm of the mind right now that I haven't left the GOP; it's left me. Yet, if I find the Senate comes around to just what they've created, and defeats this bill, I'll then join you and everyone else in getting the RINOs out of office. But if they don't listen to us, and go ahead with this legislation, then I have no more use for a party that won't listen to its constituency. If they don't listen now, they'll never listen again.

Sometimes those who are doing the right thing need to see just what the 'others' have wrought. It keeps reality in perspective. I think both positive and negative reinforcement are tools that are needed here.

Sorry, I should have included this in my first response. Oh well, it keeps the thread active.

Duncan Hunter:

"I don't think there's anything wrong with asking folks who come in illegally ... to go home. We deport thousands of people every month. I don't see any other way to re-establish the currency of American law than to keep the law."

Great quote.

For those of you having difficulty getting through to your senator, here is the 800 # paid for by the Mexican Amnesty Activists: 800-882-2005

This will get you directly to your senator unlike the numbers posted on their web sites. Interestingly, I’ve never gotten a voice mail box using this number.

Press 1 when you hear a Spanish message, then Press 1 again to be transferred to your senior senator’s office OR

Press 2 when you hear a Spanish message, and you’ll be transferred to your junior senator’s office.

You get through immediately and the call is paid for by the criminal alien support group.
