This 15 yo wasn’t like our 15 yo. This 15 had been around the block, heck, she’d been around the whole state. And so he was stupid!? This was a hardworking young man and only 17 himself, aren’t a lot of 17 yo just young fools???
He NEVER should have gotten 10 years in prison. I thank God he will get out and i pray he can still make something of himself.
We rant and rave over blacks being less than upstanding, and then we want to stomp on one who just made a stupid, youthful mistake. Yeah, I know it wasn’t moral to engage in oral sex and all that and i know she was 15 and i don’t care right now.
Are we so perfect, are our white sons and daughters so perfect that they’ve never done anything really STUPID??
Come on Genarlow with the funny name. Get back on track and make us all thankful you got out.
God bless him
It's what we call the rule of law, combined with divided powers. We used to teach it in the schools...
I disagree with the premise that oral sex is wrong.
“I assume that if kids didn’t have any clue that it was dishonorable, they’d do it in front of their parents, wouldn’t they?”
No. What an odd idea.
Do you have sex with Mr. Don-o in front of your parents? If not, is it because it is dishonorable?
Some parents are “cool” with their kids having sex.
There are also parents who will buy the kids a keg for a house party.
They’d rather be seen as “cool friends” than parents.
It wasn’t an issue for me when I was 17. I definitely was not a party kid. Much more on the geeky side.
Still, I think when you’re dealing with teens, you do have to have some flexibility. In some cases, like with gang violence and murder and forcible rape and armed robbery and that kind of thing, teens deserve adult sentences and adult prisons.
But sometimes, with the best of intentions, you can take an errant trouble-maker (someone who’s not really bad) and turn him into a hardened criminal just by being too harsh.
I’m sure that’s why the state of Georgia, in a belated act of wisdom, changed this law.
You’d probably think differently if it was your son or the son of a friend of yours.
Yeah!! Else we may be back to the 'olden' days, like less than 150 years ago, when it was common for women to be married by age 13-14. And then they were marrying men much older. D#mn perverts!!
I think some of us need to step back and think about this. I'm not advocating 1850s rule of law but if the guy is 17 and the girl is 15 this isn't the end of the world. Neither is it rape or child molestation. I remember being 15. And most of the girls were dating guys 1-2 years ahead of them in school. Should we call the police and arrest all juniors dating freshmen or sophomores?
You're going to have a lot of people going to jail in very short order
The Left excused Scott Ritter’s repeated attempts at meeting up with minors he met online (earning him the nickname of the Burger King) because he was a smart man who had much to offer.
Those sexually procative and promiscous teens are also taking digital photos.
But they shouldn’t be taught that anything they may do is wrong. Might hurt their feelings.
If it feels good, do it. < /s >
Some think judicial activism is a good thing.
BS. He was originally prosecuted because he was involved in the gang rape of an intoxicated 17 yr old.
“Those sexually procative and promiscous teens are also taking digital photos.”
What does that have to do with this ruling?
Good reason and judgment. It is the reason that you either elect or appoint judges. We neither desire nor require judges to be simple computers.
And if you think this is arbitrary, then you would equally admit that the justice system in general and the laws themselves are arbitrary. Why you would complain about an arbitrary judge in an arbitrary legal system is beyond me.
Well said.
I used to think it was only libs who worshipped sex. I was wrong.
Glass houses and all that jazz......
“BS. He was originally prosecuted because he was involved in the gang rape of an intoxicated 17 yr old.”
He was acquitted.
God save us all from your warped and cruel reasoning.
I don’t agree with your premise.
The Kama Sutra has been around for eons and is part of life in India. Sex is a beautiful part of life; not something to be reviled.
Why is the girl not the rapist? Was she even charged with anything?
