Not since Nixon couldn’t figure out the tape recorder has there been anybody anywhere near the White House with any technical background (go ahead, mention Carter) who would have a clue about climate.

But the language of the declaration appeared to be well short of a full commitment. It called for the countries to "seriously consider" following the European Union, Japan and Canada in seeking to halve emissions by 2050.

So basically the US didn't commit to anything.

Hehe. President Bush is still crazy like a fox.

Failed 93-0.

I bet if it were voted on now, it would fail, but it would be a lot closer. Sad.

She is, and so is Sarkozy - so they both support nuclear energy. But climate change is a global problem, and I see no wrong in promoting environment protection. What´s wrong with using energy saving light bulbs? Where´s the fault in reducing CO2 emissions? I don´t know (I´m no scientist) but I can´t imagine that CO2 contributes to the climate changes. Sure, climate changes are a natural phenomen, but it probably is increased by humans. So, if we don´t want more ice to melt, we should do something against it. That´s the Chancellor´s position, and this is quite common in the rest of the G8-members.

We´re glad that President Bush has made substantial changes in his environmemt policy. He recognizes the problem, and he is doing something to solve it.
