Great line!
Amazingly, it only took one additional post before this topic was hijacked into another rant about illegal immigration.
No problem, impeach the judge.
tancrado
Knowing an opportunity when he saw one, he(Wilson) returned and blasted the Bush Administration (the fact that he blatantly falsified a few important things along the way is another story)it's like he's BEGGING wilson to sue him... 8^)
I'm afraid it's relevant. One can't help noticing that Bush absolutely loves to let Democrats off the hook but does absolutely nothing when one of his faithful supporters is attacked by them.
We might add Tom DeLay to the list, and there are more.
It would be one thing if Scooter had committed some sort of crime, but all he did was get in the way of a Democrat political ambush directed at Bush and Rove, and he was also a victim of Bush's incompetence in staffing the Justice Department.
I guess you didn't bother to read my post #24 before spouting off.
You claimed to be very knowledgeable on this topic. If all of a sudden you read Thompson’s article and then have some great “epiphany” on the subject, YOU were spouting off, not me.
P.S. Kudos on your #24. Better late than never...

“Agree, this situation is an outrage. Fitzgerald is a punk and Judge Walton is an a$$hole. Bush is an ingrate and a coward”
Right on all counts!
That's true, and this is why the old tradition of supporting a Governor (who'll promise to "change" Washington") won't work this time. Ironically, we need an insider, one who's been inside the Beltway and knows how it works. Fred has been there, and he has the experience.
Anyone now think FDT is not in sync with conservatives?
I didn’t think so.
Absolutely.
I’m beginning to think Fred is the right guy, too.
I’m with you. There seems to be enough wrong with this that the judge should be removed, as well as Fitzgerald. Sandy Berger STEALS national classified secrets, of which some are never recovered, and all he gets is a $10,000 fine that George Soros pays, the loss of his law license, and an ankle bracelet! Libby got a $250,000 fine and 30 months over not being able to remember events! Heck, I can’t remember alot of events at work. We need to press for justice! Not wait for a pardon!
Not only does it seem like a wrongful conviction, but the sentence doesn’t fit the crime when put side-by-side with the Sandy Berger sentence.
I think it goes beyond extenuating circumstance. A person does not commit perjury merely by saying something that isn't true. Perjury requires that the false statement was made with the intention to deceive. Since people who commit perjury won't usually come right out and say they intended deceit, such intent is generally inferred from motive.
In this case, the judge allowed the prosecutor to present a theory about Libby's motive which he knew was not supported by properly-examined evidence; he forbade Libby from offering up any evidence that would contradict that theory. That a jury hearing such improper and prejudicial arguments found Libby guilty in no way implies that he would have been found guilty in anything resembling a fair trial.
My opinion has always been that I personally don't know whether or not Libby committed perjury (that is, by intent). All I ever wanted out of this was for him to receive a fair trial. Seeing Thompson's account (and he was an "insider" to this affair), I am now convinced that Libby never would have been able to get a fair trial under the circumstances.
From what I read from the jurors, their question was could a reasonable person have given such differing accounts on accident. If not, the inference of deception is reasonable.
