Oh you think the Federal Programs are going to go away, and dare I say you were actually expecting that?

BAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Good one.

Here is a way to make then go away — lobby your state to stop accepting money for those education programs. ;)

Special Education is not the same animal it was when your daughter was in school. Read the IDEA and NCLB regs. MA has outstanding special education laws and services. My severely autistic son is thriving due to same.

I am glad that homeschooling worked out well for your daughter.

I still disagree with your statement.

Romney was a viable candidate. However unseating a sitting candidate who holds a federal office is pretty difficult to do. Especially when that candidate is a Kennedy.

“Senator Edward M. Kennedy today announced that Massachusetts research centers will receive over $1.7 million in federal funding for scientific research under the National Science Foundation (NSF). NSF provides 20 percent of all federally supported research conducted by U.S. colleges and universities”

“Senators Edward M. Kennedy and John F. Kerry and members of the Massachusetts Congressional Delegation announced today that the federal Department of Homeland Security will release a total of $4.5 million in grants to help secure Massachusetts seaports. Congress provided this funding in the Fiscal Year 2003 Omnibus Appropriations bill signed into law in February, and the $74.8 billion War Supplemental bill signed into law in March.

The Recipients of these grants include; Massport ($1,175,000); the Massachusetts State Police ($1,200,000); the Massachusetts Environmental Police ($360,000); Distrigas of Massachusetts LLC ($300,000); the Everett Police Department ($170,000); the Governor’s Seaport Advisory Council ($100,000); the Town of Oak Bluffs Emergency Management Department ($285,000); Woods Hole Steamship Authority ($624,000); and Global Companies LLC ($243,000).”

“The U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate voted to appropriate $575,000 from the Land and Water Conservation Fund to expand the Massasoit National Wildlife Refuge in Plymouth. The President is expected to sign the measure shortly.

The appropriation, which was secured through the efforts of Senator Edward Kennedy”

Do a quick google search and you will find hundreds of these press releases.

I agree, but there are many, many better ways to do things, and we don’t simply do nothing while kids are getting sub-par educations because there’s a BETTER way that Washington won’t follow.
