A Hot-Selling Weapon, an Inviting Target (fairly neutral article on AR-15 type rifles from the NYT)

I had my doubts - the AK didn’t look quite right in there, but dismissed it as enhanced as opposed to faked. Actually, you did quite a good job with it! (I’m usually quite good at nailing fakes - ya got me.) Would like to see what black rifle Zumbo did use, and what he got with it.

I’m very struck by how they were actually level-headed about the subject, using the term “black rifle” instead of their usually preferred demonization “semi-automatic assault weapon”. Even the “equal time” given to the grabbers made the grabbers look slightly off-keel. Far more news than propaganda.

He isn’t. He just wants his all expenses paid hunting safaris back and to pull down his fat paycheck. Go to any range in the nation - anywhere - and you’ll find just average Americans plinking, target shooting, or testing new loads with “terrorist” rifles. Zumbro knows full well that they are mainstream, but he’s an elite fool that lives in a world where he thinks this stuff should be banned but his Purdys and Parkers will be spared. His attitude is ‘Let them eat cake.’

Let him eat crow - and choke on it.

Yeah, that makes sense.

I came back to Michigan (and MSU) after leaving active duty in 1992. I took a job in Indiana in 1994 and have been here ever since.

It’s a flat state and I’ve only been on an Indiana “lake” once in 13 years. Other than that, it’s a great place to live.

Michigan is like an alcoholic.
Only when it hits its lowest point will it come to its senses.
Sadly, that point is still a way off.

I'd LOL but that summary is too true.

OTOH bottom is where you make it. A recent poll says that if the election were held today instead of last November, DeVos would win. I don't think Malibu Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket had better count on another term.

Here's a link to the original photo.

I have an idea for the other, but I'll have to do some more searching to find the right material to work with.

You funny.

If it wasn’t for the lead photo actually showing Zumbo holding a pink tiger-striped AR by the magazine, and know it’s real, I’d have been more suspicious of your rather good fakes. Nicely done!

(BTW: wander over to fark.com and peruse their “Photoshop” contests. Lots to learn, lots to laugh.)

I would think you would want a shotgun for that kind of work. Or so a Viet vet buddy of mine tells me. He also told me, though, that if the NVA or VC caught you with one, they executed you on the spot.

I guess that means they really really really didn't like M-79's loaded with canister rounds.

I never served, so I don't know what ordnance is (was) available for the M-79. I would have assumed they fired only grenades or maybe WP rounds. An M-79 with canister would be nasty.

He never mentioned it, though, and I haven't seen him in years, or I would ask him.
