“What President Bush is doing, and has been doing for some time, is sundering a great political coalition. This is sad, and it holds implications not only for one political party but for the American future......
What Bush is doing, is laying the groundwork for the next Clinton presidency........

Agreed, although it seems that there are plenty of those, even here on FR, who would call that extremism.
“As for Duncan,.....”
While I am far from pleased with the current frontrunners, I place candidates like Duncan on par with Dennis K and other “no chance in hell” candidates on the Dem side. Makes for good debates, but are not going to garner more than single digit numbers, if that much.
Nope, instead they run the same old, tired old politicians espousing the same old crap. Enough already. We need new, fresh faces, smart and fairly young candidates (40ish) who can also relate to younger people and give them a reason to vote.
Yup.
“the Republican Party has morphed into the Democrat Party.
... the Democrat Party (the old one that has now morphed into the Socialist Party).”
We, as a country, are listing portside, and that’s definitely not a good thing.
That’s great! Mexico needs to be unstable. Mexico needs a revolution to overthrow the corrupt ruling class.
Gee, there’s something you don’t hear everyday.
If they nominate Fred, I’ll give them one more chance.
Mexico got screwed over by China big time. All of the inexpensive manufacturing jobs (Perot’s sucking sound) that would have gone south of the border went to China.
Even if we assume that a Mexican revolution would clean house and not turn them commie, the chaos required to revolt would cause a massive influx of folks across the border trying to escape what would probably be a civil war.
Name a country neighboring a revolution, civil unrest, etc. that has effectively sealed its borders.
Lord help us all if Hillary serves an eight year term as President. Even if all else were equal just the damage she would do in judicial appointments could take decades to repair.
Only a liberal or mental incompetent would truly believe any of the democrat candidates would be preferable to any of the announced Republican candidates.
I am wise enough to that a more slow descent into socialism is still a descent into socialism and not a viable choice. I am also wise enough to know that when you put lipstick on a pig it is still a pig and when you put a republican label on a socialist it is still a socialist. I will still support individual candidates who walk the walk, but I will not support the GOP until it undergoes a major reform and return to its principles.
We can't put all of the blame on the politicians. We too willingly put far too much credence in what politicians say during election campaigns and not near enough on what they have done repeatedly over their careers. If you would vote for a politician just because they suddenly tell you what you want to hear you deserve the consequences.
“If you would vote for a politician just because they suddenly tell you what you want to hear you deserve the consequences.”
My recollection is that the realistic choices were Al Gore or George Bush. Then four years late, our realistic choices were John Kerry or George Bush.
Lacking a better choice, I held my nose and voted for Bush twice. So yea, guilty as charged. But did I really have a choice other than the two fast track socialists? None of us did. There were those who were yippie-yi-yeah for Bush, and then there were those like me who had to hold their noses
to vote knowing full well he was part socialist, part benefactor, and an oil man buddied up with the Saudis and other rich oil barons kings and princes.
So don’t count me in as one of those who deserved the consequences. Thank you.
form the tinfoil hat party.... then vote for yourself.
