Yes, I understand.
It took seven painful years of waiting, praying, crying, and trying, before our first successful delivery. All my babies were high risk; we came close to losing all of them, and did lose two.
I have great sympathy for couples whose hearts are open and anxious for a child, but month after month...nothing. It's like having a great, gaping whole inside you; it makes you question your worth as a person.
We were already looking into adoption when my first successful pregnancy took hold. Had my little one not made it, we would have accepted God's plan in our lives and adopted, instead.

Which is a big reason why international adoption is so attractive and has almost eclipsed domestic adoption. The costs of international adoption can actually be much higher than domestic. But the process is more straightforward, and you don’t have to deal as much malarkey from the U.S. judicial system.
It’s hard to understand the worry that many adoptive parents go through, wondering if their child will later be ripped from their arms by the courts.
