The lottery commission did agree to pay for the couple's $200 taxi fare.

That was nice of them.

Someone in state government has a brain and a heart.

I went into a market one day a few years ago and saw this attractive, healthly looking lady using food stamps. On her way out I saw her put $5 into a lottery machine.

That’s what I was wondering, but this bit:

“the ticket was put through a computerized validation process. Nobody told the couple about the validation, Randolph said.”

It sounds as if it didn’t validate as a winner, and they took it to examine why it appeared so. Poor reporting, possibly hoping to drum up sympathy for the couple.

I was on a jury a couple of years ago. It was about a workmens comp. claim

The judge asked if anyone in the jury pool had been on workmens comp or had filed a claim at any time.. Aboutn 60% of the jury pool go to walk out as they had claimed or collected. I was amazed.
