It has happened twice

Both times are so clear to me
that I cannot, not take them into account

Similarly, the ONE TIME I have unequivocally
heard the voice of God was so clear that
It irrevocably and fundamentally altered my life path
and I cannot make a model of the Universe
without taking the Event into account

It would take too long to explain,
and in my experience the attempt to put words
to It only diminishes its Meaning

I'm not trying to be evasive,
I just do not know how to explain it
without injecting error,
or getting extremely personal...

The questions was posed, “how can the mind still function after a person is dead”.

My answer is simple. The brain is not the housing of the “person”, but more of the antenna. Each brain is unique and is “tuned” to a unique frequency, like a radio dial tunes in a specific frequency.

The person is not in the mind, the mind is simply the antenna receiving the signal of that particular person.

When someone dies, the brain may cease, and therefore the reception ceases, but the person still exists (the soul).

Use a radio or TV as an example. Hundreds of signals are passing thru you right at this moment. But you can’t hear or see them until you turn on a receiver and tune it to receive that specific broadcast. Without the receiver you can’t hear or see them, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t there.

This theory would explain a load of “unexplained” phenomenon, such as ESP, prior life experiences, after death sightings (ghosts), the ability to sense a loved one is in trouble miles away, etc.

Maybe Star Wars had it right. We are all part of the “force”.

Just my “unique” suggestion.

Thanks, Ridgerunner! Will read it and ping it later tonight or tomorrow. Running busy these days...if only I was organized, but it’s too late to change.

I haven’t forgotten your request and have been honoring it as best I can.

A friend at our church had a near death experience.

That must be one rough church!

Nice theory, but what is the force projecting phenomenon? With electromagnetic energy/force we have the entire range of wave propagation, but a frequency has never been identified for this phenomenon you theorize.

Additionally, it is now known that the cells in the organs remain alive in a semi-shutdown state for long periods following cessation of heartbeat and respiration. When the 02 level drops below a ceertain threshhold, cell activity goes into a sort of suspension. Absolute death of the body of organs, in most cases is a lengthy process during which time many sensing functions shut down in an uneven pattern.

It is said we are a spirit, we have a body. I believe that as a Christian. I'm wondering if there is a way to link electromagnetic energy and DNA (forinstance) to an holographic feedback mechanism to account for the soul's connection tot he biochemistry. The spirit is something another level beyong the biochemical and apparently only huamns have that aspect as breathed into Adam.

This stuff was debunked a while ago.

It's been replicated in the lab and is the brain's reaction to stress.

People who had an experience like this come away changed - they lose their fear of death and are much happier and have a greater appreciation for life. Near death experiences seem to be a universal human experience. A NDE doesn't tell us what comes after death but it does intimate life doesn't end with the grave.

Science has confirmed what we have long suspected: that we have an immortal soul. The body is merely a raiment for what is inside; one day it will disintegrate and pass from view; but the true body - the spiritual body - is made to endure forever.

I am of the opinion that all living things have a soul of life force, expressing levels of complexity roughly aligned to will (simplest), emotion, mind(the most complex and with which connection to the higher dimensional existence of spirit is accomplished). Only humankind have the spirit level of dimensional being.

Since I believe the soul of life force is a dimansional quality as real as dimension time and dimension space, I happen to believe soul of all living things are time transcendent, but somehow connected to this planet upon which they have been generated/originated.

I have a cousin who experienced two NDEs and is convinced from what he learned furing his time 'over there' that all living things except humans continue to regenerate on this planet so long as their species exists here. He has a Phd in Biophysics from UVa so his science perspective is a bit beyond my level of comprehension and which leaads me to lend a certain credibility to his witness ... and he had his first experience as an confirmed scoffing atheist, but that ended abruptly when he returned form the first NDE.

Near death experiences seem to be a universal human experience.

It's a reality, for as many as one in every four persons (I was surprised that the number is that high... Perhaps *someone* is trying to tell us something...)

Sounds right. Many people have reported that their dead pets somehow "found their way back" in the body of a new animal. Humans are more evolved beings than animals - so we incarnate again when and if we choose to.

I admit I'm not sure what the soul who chose to incarnate as Rosie O'Donnell is learning from the experience, though. ;)
