So I want to trade secularism for RINOism. No thanks.
or secularism for cultism.
or secularism for cultism.
Amen to that.
if Romney will take a strong stand against abortion and contraception, and come out for equal time for Biblically based scientific theories of Creation in schools, I’ll strongly consider him.
When was Reagan pro-abortion, or as the writer says it, “pro-choice” ?
I'm not a mormon but maybe you should take a look at this:
We Have Sinned Against You - Leading Evangelical Apologizes to Mormons
Well, I don’t know if he “gets it”, but he certainly is filling a void. McLame and Rudy are (let’s face it) liberals. Thompson is not in, yet. That’s the void.
I believe Reagan signed a pro-abortion bill while he was governor of CA.
I'll give Romney credit for using his time well. Once Fred gets in, it's a different ballgame. But Mitt is trying to pile up as many runs as he can before the pitching changes.
“I believe Reagan signed a pro-abortion bill while he was governor of CA.”
yes, but as Reagan proved, having been governor of a liberal state can be the prelude to a great presidency. When he got to Washington he knew exactly what he would be up against and wasted no time with “compassionate” feel good talk.
You are exactly right.
“Once Fred gets in, it’s a different ballgame.”
If Fred does well he will take away votes from Romney and McCain and as a result Rudy Julie will be back on top. A different ball game indeed!
The opinion of constitutional lawyer David French on the issue of teaching intelligent design in public schools may interest you.
David French is a Harvard Law School graduate and a leading constitutional attorney with the non-profit Alliance Defense Fund (ADF). David is a First Lieutenant in the Judge Advocate Generals Corps of the United States Army Reserve. The Alliance Defense Fund is a legal defense and advocacy group for religious freedom founded in 1994 by the leaders of more than 35 ministries, including Dr. James Dobson. ADF directly litigates carefully chosen, strategic cases to protect the freedom of religion, guard the sanctity of human life, and preserve marriage and traditional family values. The ADF is a major force opposing liberal activist groups such as the ACLU.
David French wrote:
JUST A QUICK WORD ON INTELLIGENT DESIGNCan I just add a quick word on what I think is the ultimate silliness of intelligent design as an issue in a presidential campaign? First, to be clear, I'm a firm believer in intelligent design and in my day job I work hard defending the fundamental First Amendment rights of ID scholars. But as a practical matter, the absolutely devastating Dover court case (and the subsequent award of more than $1 million the attorneys who sued the Dover school board) pretty much crushed the life out of any coherent attempt to bring ID into public school science class.
I hate to see presidential politics brought into purely symbolic areas. Let's get back to discussing things that presidents can actually influence. (And, yes, I know President Bush has said some good things in this area, but he's had much less influence on the debate than a single federal district court judge (that Bush appointed, by the way) in Pennsylvania).
May I suggest reading Ronald Reagan: An Extraordinary Leader by Dinesh D'Souza. Also, you can do a search at ontheissues.org. They seem to address it in a succint and factual manner.
Or, google is your friend.
“I believe Reagan signed a pro-abortion bill while he was governor of CA.”
Most of us here know that he signed that bill in 67, but when was he pro-abortion?
Until he flip-flops again. Everything in me says Romney can't be trusted more than any other candidate on both sides. A slick presentation doesn't mean anything if you cannot be trusted.
