Clearly a fairly substantial group of us disagree with you. I'm pretty much against anyone who cannot conceive "the natural way" having IVF or a surrogate or whatever due to the number of already-born children out there in the world who need parents, so that is my objection to homosexuals having biological children BUT I know several gay couples who have adopted special needs children and have turned around those kids' lives. Note that these children were getting older in orphanages, passed over by heterosexual couples, who were searching for more perfect children. Having seen those children grow, I can't in any way say that I don't believe gay couples should raise children.
The fact that something may be contrary to a specific relgious outlook (i.e. an abomination to God pursuant to the Bible) is not, IMHO, an adequate reason for it to be banned in the US. If we took that position, what is to stop Muslims from demanding that loans have no interest? That women not be permitted to own property? Those things are abominations to Allah. Relying on a religious argument really gets nowhere in a debate about what should be permitted under US law.
You might be overplaying your (understood) point a little bit: there’s a reason Hets are (somewhat lovingly) called “breeders” by many in the homosexual community. I think homosexual child-rearage is likely a very small minority of that “cohort”, even among lesbians (no statistics to cite, unfortunately).
No, I’m not for homosexual adoption tabula rasa. I’m also not for infanticide, abandonment, or whatever other evils affect children, regardless of the parentage. The world is still an evil place, which I cannot rationalize, but if a loving nuclear family isn’t “Cosby Show Donna Reed It To Beaver”, we can still pray for all involved to revel in the glory of God.
Yes and it's a sad sight to see here on this great conservative forum, last time I checked this forum was against homosexuality in all its guises but maybe I'm mistaken. However I'm not swayed by majority opinion but by faith and conviction to what is right in the eyes of God.
Apparently the homosexual agenda has successfully seeped into the loins and the mindsets of you and others who call themselves fellow conservatives.
There's tragic cases in all orphanages but to sacrifice these kids and corrupt their souls into a dark and sinister lifestyle of homosexuals doesn't really do the kids any good or the homosexual parents, it only serves to validate them with a lifestyle they have no business proliferating on this society.
Another baby born into the world who can reach his full potential in life. Regardless of the circumstances, this baby is a good thing, and with Dick Cheney as Grandpa, and Lynn as Grandma, nothing but good can come of it. Bet the kid grows up well, and makes a wonderful future citizen. At some point this boy will be making his own decisions in life. And that will be good.
Sam Cheney ‘62!
And I'm sure that you live your life free of sin, don't you? But you're more than willing and able to point out the sins of another and to pass judgement on them.
"Judge not, lest ye be judged."
Suggestion: sweep your own doorstep. Work on yourself and don't be so quick to condemn others because, like it or not, you're not perfect, except in the hypocrisy department. You're pretty good at that, I can see. Maybe not perfect, but you're getting there.
Where are you coming from? A values neutral philosophy? You take a person religious beliefs out the argument then what's left?
Surely society will and obviously is in a steep decline because religious ideals and arguments for the standards of how society should be guided are steadily being thrown under the bus, and it sounds like you're one of the drivers.
I understand that both mom/baby are doing well. I sincerely wish them all the best. Yes it would be nice if the baby could have the biological dad there full-time in his life. But from these pictures it definitely looks like he has a loving granddad. I think that Dick & Lynne Cheney are thrilled to have another grandchild. I hope they give this baby all the love/care it deserves.
I just wonder if this were the Clinton’s daughter we were talking about and not the Cheney’s daughter that some of those in agreement to this would be singing a different tune.
Not even a half-note off of the sheet.
This is NOT Lynne and Dick Cheney’s child, this child belongs to lesbians for Godsakes, I wish people would quit focusing on the grandparents and actually consider who’s gonna be instilling values to the kid. I seriously doubt that the grandparents will interfere in the raising of Sam especially in matters of sexuality.
It’s only in the news because of the grandparents, and the MSM’s nasty attempts to create discord. They stop at nothing.
And you forgot what I mentioned before: extended families; grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and even some peers.
We’re not born without other sociological influences. Where do you think the “It Takes A Village” stuff comes from?
I see what you are saying but I have to disagree..he looks like a blushing grandpa.
Hopefully there will be other Cheney family members who can somehow take up the good fight against this impossible situation but we aren’t doing this society any good by continually singing praises on this same-sex couple as if they just did something fantastic and/or normal.
Good Lord. You reduce the birth of a child to politics?
I can drink to that. My guess, however, is that not all Lesbian Couples are created equally militant, anti-Christian, anti-family, anti-American.
Worthy of our prayers, in any case. Thanks for the scrimmage, FRiend.
Babies have always been political footballs (to use a somewhat dark, though amusing, metaphor). That’s why pols like to kiss them.
