Got to wonder why some introduce racism to a literary discussion. Literary discussion? "Silent Spring" is a political manifesto along the lines of "The Communist Manifesto" and "Mein Kampf" and as such any discussion of it will be about it's politics rather than it's literary merits. Even the left has never suggested that it is some sort of literary masterpiece, it is propaganda and nothing more.

That still stuns me. I know that other lists have said that it is one of the most dangerous books ever written.

Actually Carson’s literary style has been praised. It’s part of the reason the book the appeal that it did.
