Heck, I've done some of the jobs that "Americans refuse to do." Why do our politicians think that the US owes everyone on this planet something? Why do they think that foreign aid is our responsibility? Why do they think that after every natural disaster anywhere in the world that it is the United States' responsibility to respond. Sometimes I think it is colossal conceit that drives that mindset. Something like "we are the only ones capable, aren't we great?" And by extension that greatness is bestowed on those elected in Washington. They need the display of American wealth and power to make themselves appear great. And we the taxpayer are paying for it.

What is wrong with us? China is a growing power, but they do nothing like we do with aid. Europe, while in decline, never did what we have done, neither did the old Soviet Union, only we think we must be the world's nanny. What's wrong with us? Those other countries get a pass and only the US reaps so much hate and scorn in spite of how much we give. I'm tired.

His logic comes from a dependence on input from his own circle, a form of inbred thought.

Agreed. Just copy Mexico’s immigration laws for the U.S. and enforce them - and watch Mexicans yell. Most people don’t know how draconian Mexican laws are about immigration.

Anti-immigration conservatives are the most vocal people in the country when it comes to saying that our immigration system is broken. But now they have been presented with an "immigration reform" bill that attempts to address some of their concerns, and they're screaming bloody murder about it.

If there are provisions in a bill that absolutely undermine the provisions WE want, then we're right to scream bloody murder. And if there are no concrete guarantees that the provisions we want will be effectively enacted or enforced, then of course we should oppose the legislation.

Like hell. The "attempts" to address our concerns are little more than bamboozlement. Meanwhile, the rest of the bill is little more than dumping buckets of gasoline on the already burning illegal immigration fire - and calling such firefighting.
