I agree, Roberts! Let Ron Paul speak. He may not have a shot at the big brass ring but he has touched off healthy discussions on at least 5 or 6 core issues which need to be openly debated.

On another board, a GOP poster calls him “Ron Paul Revere.”
I like that...

But... haven't the Dem been saying there was no link of Sept. 11 and Iraq...

..Osama and Saddam no connection....

Paul is saying bombing Iraq for 10 years was the cause of Sept. 11.....

When did Bush bombed before Sept. 11?...

Bill C bombed before Sept. 11... and the Dem's loved him ...

The Dem's say Bush lied and linked Iraq to Sept. 11 (but he didn't) and did it to lied us in to war ...

Paul does link Iraq to Sept. 11 an Dem's say Paul is telling the "truth"?...

Shouldn't the Dem's be saying Paul is trying to lie us to defeat?

"Of course that's not true. "

I also missed the part of the debate where he said that.

I'd suggest that Dr. Paul is neither nominatable nor electable. But neither were most of the candidates on the dias for the debate.

Bin Laden has a million grievances, and we can never assuage them. We are not his only target. People who think bin Laden’s explanations for why he and al Qaeda commit mass murders matter ignore the obvious. They do it because they’re murderers. They relish it. They kill as many civilians as they can everyday in Iraq and other places. They always have an excuse. They want the Spanish out of Andalusia, as they call it (i.e. Spain), for example. They want everyone to convert to Islam. They’ve got a million demands. Who cares? For crying out loud, they’re insane murderers and should be hunted down like vermin and killed before they kill more innocents. Ron Paul can put that in his pipe of whacky tobacky.

I have the same knee-jerk reaction you do toward the very question “why?” I also happen to think Bush’s response to al Qaeda has been lame, because he spares the population that produced them and trots around saying it’s a religion of peace.

Aside from the content of his statement, there is the utter stupidity of the way he said it: “Haven’t you read....”

Like I believe anything I read these days.

Ron Paul is a good foil to react to in debates. It’s like (in part) having a Democrat there. It’s good the man has some solid beliefs, even if we don’t agree with him.

This is a novel thoery that you proffer: That a nation should never seek to understand the motivations of the enemy. As far as I know, understanding what motivates an enemy is critical both during a war, and in between wars as well to help guide policy.

As it stands right now, the DNC IS the party of DEFEAT. They are more in line with OUR ENEMIES than they are with US.

The FACT remains that the GOP has been BASTARDIZED be the huge influx of RATS/LIBERTARIANS that masqurade as TRUE CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICANNS.

I don't disagree. Regardless of what either he or giuliani were saying, one was speaking "strongly" and another "weakly". That hurt Paul.

Sometimes it is sensible to interpret strong disapproval to fear. In the case of Paul, I don’t think that’s the case. We just hate his views and wish he’d go away.

As it stands right now, the DNC IS the party of DEFEAT.

Yes, this is evidenced by the fact that they are perfectly fine with using force so long as they are in control.

They are more in line with OUR ENEMIES than they are with US.

Yes... at least when it is a war led by a Republican President.

The FACT remains that the GOP has been BASTARDIZED be the huge influx of RATS/LIBERTARIANS that masqurade as TRUE CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICANNS.I

Well, there has been an influx of rats. That is always the price of being in the majority... you attract johnny come lately's who are maybe with you on one issue but really are not with you overall. In fact, a lot of them were on FR. This became apparent when they started supporting Rudy not on the merits, but by tearing down Reagan and the founding fathers. Jim Robinson, in his wisdom, sniffed them out and booted them.

I don't think libertarians masquerade as conservatives. Although, there is a strain of conservatism that I might call PJ O'Rourke or perhaps Steve Forbes conservatism. They might not be with the conservatives 100% on the social issues, but aren't against them either. And you can tell they are not rats because of how strongly they are for cutting taxes, privatising social security, etc.
