People have truly run out of things to worry about. :)

I thought that was the sound when an Italian racing tire goes flat:
‘WOP WOP WOP WOP WOP’
Heh.

How about a Dagoburger? I like the sound of that.
And I’m of Italian decent. I am not in the least bit offended by either Wopburger or Dagoburger. Get a life, people!

Not worry..there are plenty of non-Itailians PCers who will be offended on your behalf.
That restaurant had better not have a Limeyburger on the menu, or else I’m gonna raise a little hell!
To: KingSnorky
My dad used to call one of is good friends a “wop”. I thought it was a term of endearment.

I used to live in Louisville and have eaten at the restaurant. Figures some jag-off from probably jersey would raise a stink, with the name Gambino no less!!

It all started because some Italians came to America
“With -Out- Papers”. Now we have millions of WOPs coming in and they aren’t Italians. You don’t have to be Italian any longer to be a WOP.
To: Ditter
I once heard that “WOP” was an Ellis Island-originated acronym for “Without Papers”. No idea if that’s true.
Either way, I’ll bet that WithoutPapersburger is tasty!
To: KingSnorky
I used to call my cousin “The Italian Al Sharpten” or “Alfonzo Sharptino” because he used to get upset over this stuff. One time, an ad for a hand sanitizer mentioned that “Sal Monella” may have grabbed that hand rail before you — he took it as a slap against Italians. Everyone’s a victim, I guess.
Me — I’m half Italian/half German. I don’t know whether to love or fight.
To: KingSnorky
How pathetic. I have known 100’s of Italians in my life,( most of them my closest friends) and not one of them would ever complain about something so meaningless as this. Most of them use the term WOP to refer to themselves jokingly. Pretty sad the NIAR stepped in to stop this little bit of cultural history.

I know a guy of Irish descent who’s lthat touchy. He even flies into a rage at the term “paddy wagon.” Then I just pour him another shot of whiskey and he calms down. :D

You dont have to be Italian any longer to be a WOP. WRONG!
the Italian government would not give the people papers to immigrate OUT of Italy.
The US either did or did not give them papers at this end. the ones that did not get papers WENT BACK TO ITALY!
better than 98% of Italians coming into America did it LEGALLY.
