As applied to PBS, it couldn’t make matters worse.

"The decision to press for re-establishment of the Fairness Doctrine now seems to have developed for two reasons. "First, [Democrats] failed on the radio airwaves with Air America, no one wanted to listen," says a senior adviser to Pelosi. "Conservative radio is a huge threat and political advantage for Republicans and we have had to find a way to limit it. Second, it looks like the Republicans are going to have someone in the presidential race who has access to media in ways our folks don't want, so we want to make sure the GOP has no advantages going into 2008."

Going after Rush, going after Fred, going after Sean, going after Dr. Levin, going after Michael Savage, going after Laura Ingraham, going after Ann Coulter...the list goes on and on...I say, give these boneheads every opportunity to demonstrate to the American voters that they are anti-Constitution, anti-Free Speech, anti-AMERICAN!!! More rope to'em. Let'em swing in the wind!

“That announcement was greeted with silence.”

Persuing it’s one thing; getting it passed is quite another. It’s obvious by now that the Dem higher-ups haven’t a clue on just how weak their hold on power is; they’re barely getting bills passed and have no chance of overriding the inevitable veto that this one will produce.

It’s just more posturing to the Barking Moonbats (BM for short, pretending they actually make a difference. They’ll be blown out of the water next year and will have no choice but to bolt to the Greens where they belong; then we can finally have two adult parties again.

RUSH and Sean have been expecting this. I wonder how much RUSH is willing to spend to lobby against this...

Yes. Do you think Bush can find the veto pen for this one?

True, but the Dims are so far left now(35% approval rating)
that they will self implode just like “Rudy the Republican” is doing.

“This is BAD, folks.”

Yep, VERY BAD. But it is what the Dems do best...attempt to squash freedoms. Since they are basically Trotskyites, we shouldn’t be too surprised. Communism can never fair. And they talk about losing civil liberties!!! Get on the phone tomorrow and let them know that you and your friends won’t stand for it!

” Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer have informed them that they will “aggressively pursue” reinstatement of the so-called Fairness Doctrine over the next six months”

I see tumbrils in their future.

At first blush, I agree that a re-introduction of the absurdly-named “Fairness Doctrine” would be a bad thing, especially as applied to radio. Upon reflection, however, with satellite radio and the ability to stream internet transmissions, I think that technology has transcended the ability of the socialists (and spineless republicans) to interrupt the free flow of ideas and speech.

"Conservative radio is a huge threat and political advantage for Republicans and we have had to find a way to limit it.

Well, Nancy, You and your co-conspirators have 100% of the broadcast channels; 98% of the cable channels on TV.

You have 100% the tax-payer financed PBS on TV.

You have 100% of the taxpayer funded NPR, and most of the 'DJ's' on FM radio and non-talk AM radio on your side.

You have 97% of the New York and Hollywood entertainment folks on your side.

You have 94% of the newspapers nation wide on your side.

You have 88% of the rest of the print media on your side.

You have 92% of the teachers and professors, kindergarten thru college on your side.

You have 100% of the major internet search engines, video hosts, Digg, Slashdot etc.; Kos, Huffpo and the DUmmies etc. on your side.

WE have Rush Limbaugh, Laura Ingrahm, Sean Hannity and a couple of other radio hosts; Free Republic, Lucianne, Hot Air and a few other significant websites on our side.

Yeah, lets go for some Fairness laws. When you make all of the media and 'players' on YOUR side be 50% supporting of conservative thought, we will be glad to let you set someone up against our few significant media outlets.

Considering that the DNC 'owns' over 90% of the mass media, it says something about your agenda that you can only garner about half the votes across the nation despite the incredible advantages you have in information 'dissemination'.

This is incredible:

According to another Democrat leadership aide, Pelosi and her team are focused on several targets in the fight, including Rush Limbaugh and the Salem Radio Network. In fact, Kucinich’s staff has begun investigating Salem, one of the fastest growing radio networks in the country, which features such popular — and highly rated — conservative hosts as Bill Bennett and Michael Medved, and Christian hosts such as Dr. Richard Land.
