Interesting point but who do we demand unconditional surrender from? What government body or individual?

Islam.

This, coming on the heals of Petraeus telling our troops to “fight fair!” Even my normally gung ho mom gagged at that.

Lets all pray for our brave soldiers, now and continuously throughout the day on this Mother’s day.

Amen.

Isn't this the SECOND time this has happened in or near Latifiyah? Why does this remind me of Fallujah?

So many questions...

Why hasn't the town been surrounded, given 72 hours to evacuate through allied lines, and leveled? Leveled as in bounce the rubble.

My Dad was serving stateside but said the sentiment was everyone wanted to go home and war was hell etc. The baby boom is evidence of that. 4 years of the entire country mobilized and on rationing was tough I guess

Thanks to the main stream media and a handful of accomplices in the Maryland National Guard we all have been accused of crimes against humanity for forcing a handful of terrorists to run around naked with sandbags over their heads.

Thanks to who, for hardly anyone knowing about two of our soldiers from the same area who were found tied together, a bomb set between the legs of one, and both shot in the head?

It’s time to remember the cost of selective censorship.

Sadly, this fight fair stuff I believe is origionating from Bob Gates. He has been leading the charge to close down GITMO and other ‘fighting fair’ issues.

Elected officials don’t order the Army to limit patrols to 8 men in a given neighborhood.

Sure they do, indirectly. When you don't send enough troops to support the tasks you require, the military adapts however it needs to in order to accomplish the mission. The Army can't make itself bigger, or the mission smaller. It just does what its' told with the resources available.

Google Lidice.

I did, thanks. I'm surprised that I hadn't heard of it before.

Imho, the "standard" is what the Romans did to the Carthaginians. Ergo, no more Carthaginians.

No surprise here, it’s just what we thought when they went missing yesterday. We need to drop a few ‘radical Islam seeking’ bombs over there.

Headed off to Mass here. I am glad to report that the priests add a line to the intercessions for OUR fighting men.

There were two places that the "special effect" of nukes could have been used in this "war", both to good effect.

The first was Tora Bora in November 2001, the second was Fallujah in April 2004.

The effect of wiping out the senior leadership of Al Qaeda, while at the same time demonstrating that there was no limit we would respect in responding to an attack on our people would have been spectacular.

And erasing Fallujah in a nanosecond would have announced to our enemy in Iraq that they were next in line if they did not immediately submit.

Now, it's too late.

Saddam represented the will of less then 20% of Iraqis and managed to keep down the other 80% as well as his enemies at the gates in the region like Iran. He managed to do so not by being a nice guy. Nice guys don’t get to power and stay in power for a reason on the Middle East.
