Too much government regulations and union demands, IMO.

I was joking, foreign employers hire more Americans every year.

Am I wrong in thinking we're paying more in tariffs (if that's the correct word) on our exports and they're not on our imports from outside?

Generally, American tariffs are lower than foreign tariffs.

I wasn't.

Generally?

WHAT are we exporting more of?

Lots of stuff.

Other than our factories, and our national treasure?

You have $$$ numbers for factories and national treasure exported?

All we’re doing is importing more, and more, and more.

Actually, in 1993, before NAFTA, we exported $41.58 billion to Mexico. In 2006, we exported $134.17 billion.

We’re losing our ability to manufacture.

Is that why we made more than China and Japan combined in 2005?

In what way have we benefitted from “free trade”?

Like I said, more imports, more exports.

I know we have "Too much government regulations and union demands".
Foreign companies still open operations in America.

Generally?

Yes. I'm sure we could find some where ours are higher. I'm sure our tariffs on sugar from Brazil are higher than their tariffs on some of our goods.

Our national (monthly) trade deficit with China alone, is equivalent to the entire market value of most major American corporations.

EVERY MONTH.

As we buy our cheap trinkets and our shoes and our keyboards and everything we buy from Walmart which is made in China, we send our manufacturing abilities, our factories, and our KNOWLEDGE OF HOW TO PRODUCE THINGS with all those 20 billion dollars every month. To people, who are planning our eventual demise.

Make no mistake.

We’re losing our future.

And you don’t see that truth. Which is right in front of your eyes.

Why?

Yes.

Yes, we don't make as many cheap trinkets here anymore.

we send our manufacturing abilities, our factories and our KNOWLEDGE OF HOW TO PRODUCE THINGS

People learned how to manufacture things decades before we traded with China. And while it's true that we have fewer factories than we used to, we make more stuff with the factories that remain.

To people, who are planning our eventual demise.

Yes, the Chinese Commies are evil bastards.

We’re losing our future.

How do you figure?

The concept of American jobs is wrongheaded. Maybe US government jobs are American jobs in some sense, but when an entrepreneur uses his money and talent to start a business in America, if he hires people, that does not make those positions Amerian jobs. As Americans played no part in creating the business, they have no claim on jobs. If Americans want jobs, they can create jobs themselves.

No, you have that backwards. I have founded a company, and made the payroll. I know whereof I speak. You are the collectivist, here. Governments already make it tough enough.

The primary purpose of GATT and other trade agreements is to protect American Corporations’ private property rights in other countries.
