Well, it certainly violates the “separation” of Church and State!

Ya' beat me to it ... obviously a Christian symbol in a public place ... the parents of the little girl who drew that should be charged with cruelty to children, fined thousands of dollars, forced to perfom hundreds of hours of community service and mandated to re-alignment classes for the religiously deranged.
What?
Boston?
Oh ... OK ...
The parents of the little boy who drew this ....

The devices, a promotion for Cartoon Network, had lights that created images of a cartoon character making an obscene gesture. Aside from the public safety issue, why wouldn't Cartoon Network and these guys be liable for at least public obscenity?
Since the Cartoon Network targets children, couldn't they also be charged with Contributing To Delinquency of a Minor?
To: gridlock
Remember, sombody did call in a bomb threat
I'm fairly certain you're confused on this point and not remembering what happened correctly, as pointed out by the other poster.

"Adult Swim" which is shown on Cartoon Network after 10-11PM, and of which ATHF is a part, doesn't target Children.
And part of the joke is the simply the idea that three colored pixels extending from what sorta looks like a hand on a crudge space-invaders picture could be considered "obscene."

When the 4 & the 3 are reversed as in your picture it is a Satanic cult marking with the arrow, base to top of the cross, pointing to the alter where, according to the 1 & 2, at midnight a young virgin will be sacrificed to PC.
Quick, Quick, call the cops. :-)

I wouldnt buy their apology so quickly. Considering their behavior after the incident, it wouldnt surprise me if they flipped off the judge after apologizing.
To: gridlock
I thought that they would have said something more along these lines:
"I'm sorry that some people are too stupid to recognize a flashing sign depicting a cartoon character as a flashing sign depicting a cartoon character. Yes, I'm a dope smoking, braindead moron who probably couldn't get or keep a job if I tried. But I'm not the one who deployed Boston's entire antiterrorism reaction force to "disarm" flashing signs depicting a cartoon character from the Aqua Teen Hunger Force cartoon, shutting down half the city in the process. That we have such stupid people running our city and also such people gathering and reporting our news - for that, I really am truly sorry. Now, do we have any questions related to 70's hairstyles?"

yep. I'm terrified now by golly.
When all this happened I remember how the cops just piled on even after they knew from the first one exactly what this was and started to close down the city and harbor as I recall.
I said then all they were doing is running up a bill. I guess it cam to
HUH? Two MILLION bucks?
Sure, right.

Exactly. It was morons vs. morons in Boston, it seems. Well, they DID overwhelmingly elect (and still keep electing) John Kerry and Ted Kennedy. What more do you need to know about Bostonians?

Similar signs were placed in nine other cities around the United States, but only in Boston did they elicit such a response. These men should not be penalized just because the authorities in Boston are borderline retarded. If they left these signs on public property, maybe charge them with littering. Nothing else.

I'm fairly certain you're confused on this point... I'm pretty sure I'm not. I am not implying that the pipe bomb threat had anything to do with these two morons, but there was a unrelated bomb scare that same day that had to do with pipe bombs. That may have had something to do with the way the Boston police reacted.
If you are going to leave devices all over the city, without explanation or identification, there is a chance they are going to be misinterpreted. This is the risk you take. In this case, it was a problem.

The mayor really isn't part of the problem so let's stick to the two morons.
What the prosecutor has said, in other words, is that these two people are so stupid it would be nearly impossible to prove intent, or even that they could form an intent.
No doubt they need close supervision in a sheltered work environment.
