The entire speech shows a grasp of the situation in France that no other American politician has.
And he’s very sharp, too. “Oh, to be sure, the French media hates us, but there are a lot of people who say ours does too.” Notice that he can’t be accused of attacking the media directly, he is merely pointing out what a lot of people think.
If the shoe fits, wear it.

The media routinely uses the “a lot of people say” device to attack or editorialize indirectly — turnabout is fair play.

Nice ,makes me think, and that’s tough

And Fred nails it once again! It’s so refreshing to hear the way a political figure actually thinks...

So whats happening here? Could it be that we've mistaken the French media for the French people? Thats says it all. The Drive Bys had us believe in 2004 that Bush, the most passionately hated man in America (not to mention the rest of the world), was going to lose in a landslide.
To: HarmlessLovableFuzzball
I hope the rats dont find out that Bush is not on the ballot next year.

Hopefully our very own GOP is listening and taking a lesson from this guy. Get out there and speak your mind, you’ll be suprised at how many Americans feel the same way you do.

I have been saying this on Freeper for years now and everyone just called me names. France is somewhat more liberal overall than the US but 40-45% of the French would consistently vote Republican. Now if French conservatives could just get over their tendency to put France’s interests over everyone else’s....

I don’t know how many Fred Dalton Thompsons you know, but the writer of the article at the top of this is the Fred Dalton Thompson who is considering a run for the Presidency. Which Thompson do you think wrote it, and who is he?
