As Mark Steyn might say: “It’s the demography, stupid!”.
Maybe all those people who have stopped reading the NYT have answered the clue phone...

Duh, the poor little kids of all colors were there all the time.
And I grew up as a white kid in Manhattan.

It is about time. You can’t improve the lot of the underclass by restricting the population of the upperclass. I think well off conservatives especially should make sure they have more than the national average where children are concerned. (It is already largely the case but we could do better.) I have 4 kids and we home school and I think we are going to have one more. I am committed to doing my part to make sure this country isn’t transformed into a third world nation.

I will. A buddy of mine has 7 kids, two sets of twin girls and 1 set of twin boys and one additional boy. I was talking to him and he shared how he’d gotten tired of people saying “Don’t you know how to fix that” referring to his wife getting pregnant. I do think it is unfortunate that it has become such a joke. If anyone should be reproducing it should be those who have the means to do so.

I wonder how many of the children in this surge will be turning five in June? And I wonder what might have happened in lower Manhattan nine months earlier that may have convinced so many people that there is more to live than living for yourself and for the moment? </SARC>

You brought a good point. I didn't think about it.
One of the lasting effects of September 11th attacks is that it taught us, especially yuppies in New York City the value of life.

After all, the Bible instructs us to be "fruitful and multiply".

These class warfare people are utterly ridiculous.
OMG, successful people choose to live in the greatest city in the world and actually reproduce there! Even worse, their white kids might spawn some offspring there, as well!! They may even attend private schools not open to “whatever is the most current PC term for illegals” these days, and not offer it to them for free. Certainly terms for a lawsuit.
