I know this sort of thing gets a lot of people around here kind of hot, but the FBI, come on!

Great picture :-)
I think that you may have added an extra semi colon in Thinkin’ Gal’s name and so your ping may not have gotten to her. Hopefully she will see this one :-)

I saw a Medal of Honor in a surplus store once. Unfortunately, this was before I discovered selling them was illegal. It was up in Seattle, this store.
As for the rest, you can buy anything up to a DSC/AFC/NC legally, if I remember right. They have them at a bunch of surplus stores and catalogs.
Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Thanks for the heads-up and now she has

I've often wished I'd served, and I've learned a lot about the military, including terms and so forth, to the point that people occasionally ask if I was in the military. I'm always extremely careful, out of respect for veterans, to make it clear that I never served.Same here. I do not claim to be anything I have not been, plain and simple.

Thanks Stoat, for your diligent ping patrol policing! :-)

WHAT ABOUT KERRY? His awards are official. It doesn't matter if they were really appropriately awarded, they are official and he's entitled to them.
Of course he ought to be sitting in Ft. Leavenworth, having been there since the 1970s. Then it wouldn't matter what medals he had.
Benedict Arnold probably had a few medals too, for Ticonderoga, Saratoga and other battles. He was a still a traitor.

Whoa.......A Salad Master!
What always got me about Kerry was that he earned 4 campaign stars on his VNSM in 120 days......sure give away.

I don't believe that there's any law against selling military medals. You can buy replacement medals at military.com
Right now they are offering enhanced medals for veterans. That is gold plated rather than brass.

McGuinn became the first person in the nation to be prosecuted under a new law, the Stolen Valor Act, which exposes convicted fakers to a year in prison. Was the name of this act also stolen?

Good post with a lot of truth. I have to laugh; often I work on a job for over a year before someone says, “I heard you were in Nam”. I find I share my experience more readily with guys my age who were also in combat.
Cheers
