The best guess that I have seen, factoring the number of children born to a family and the small statistical likelihood that sons born after the first are very slightly more likely to be gay, probably based on in utero chemical processes.

The number is something less than 1.5% but probably more than 1%.

If the study holds true, it can also be noted that with women having fewer children per woman it is likely this percentage will decrease.

Of sourse this is just a swag, but I am leaning on sophisticated part of it.
