All education should be private, startng with K-12. Parents should vote with their feet by sending kids to private schools. If there are not enough private schools, parents should join together and incorporate new private schools in their area. This would cut state and local taxes on average by 50%, and put the socialist educrats out of business. Free market competition will take care of pricing and quality.
Ditto for public colleges and universities. Parents should stop paying for junior or sis to be brain-washed by liberal lunatics. Choose private colleges that are conservative, such as www.hillsdale.edu. If there are not enough suitable colleges, start new ones.

The students had brought up the topic of gay marriage before the assignment during a classroom discussion on current events, Jensen said.
I doubt this. If it were brought up, it was probably a class clown making a joke to get attention.

Wow, unsubstantiated statements of opinion, second hand anecdotal evidence, and outright falsehoods to support gay marriage, all wrapped up in an appeal to emotion.
Even if this were about speed limits, it wouldn’t be good material.

The NEA is pushing it agenda full throttle. My 11 year old daughter had to write a paragraph recently titled 'Why I am choosing to be a vegetarian.' Her response: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1828168/posts?q=1&;page=87#87

I gave the condensed version earlier; I will go into more detail now. The teacher contacted me this past Monday (4/30); I spoke with her and the principal on Tuesday. I expressed my displeasure with the subject matter and the principal halfheartedly agreed. Not happy with his response, I asked him how he could guarantee me that next weeks assignments would not be Why I am choosing to be a lesbian and Why I am choosing to have an abortion. His response: One is a choice (vegetarianism) and the others are moral issues. I disagreed but said even if I agree with you, how can it be considered a choice if my daughter was directed what to choose? He saw my point and agreed with me. That is when I told him that my daughter would be happy to write the paragraph covering why she chooses to eat meat.(which was deemed unnecessary) I finished by telling him that I will be monitoring the subject matter more closely from now on and that I expect no repercussions to be directed toward my daughter or her twin brother, who is in the class.
I then had a talk with my son, who completed the assignment as directed, about being compelled to do something that he does not agree with, even by a teacher.
pollywog - I would remove my children from the school district and join the lawsuit asking for compensation for their private education.

Columbia, MO is pretty much in the Bible Belt too (though it is after all the home of MU and plenty of liberals work, teach and reside there).

Thanks for post the poem. It says it all.

If God didn’t want us to eat animals, He wouldn’t have made them out of meat.

Yes!!!
Get the kids out of there, and don’t waste anymore time with un-brainwashing them. Spend more time learning and being a family instead.

Ya know, it's good parents like you that keep the government schools and the UNionized teachers on the up and up.
Great job!
And keep it up!

Meet Fifth Grade Teacher...Mr. Garrison.

I knew there was an article I was looking for!
As I’ve mentioned recently, public schools are becoming an arm of the “gay” rights movement, with children being inducted as foot soldiers (and future participants, I might add).
Home schooling is the only safe thing to do.

The teacher contacted me because of her 'flippant' response and I told her and the school principle that my daughter would be happy to turn in a paragraph with the prompt 'Choose either to be a vegetarian or a carnivore and support your choice,' but she would not write a paper on a personal choice that someone else made for her.Excellent!!

Come hell or high water, the homosexuals are going to have legal access to kids. Allowing adoption is nothing short of the worst kind of child abuse.
