Is melamine explosive? I know its used in fertilizer. No; that's why the Chinese government likes it, so I've read.

“Eat nothing from China.”
How would one know?

They sell teff? It has a wonderful flavor. Doesn’t rise worth a darn, though.

Right! That was it! Like ammonium nitrate it is a good fertilizer, unlike ammonium nitrate, it can’t be used as an explosive.

It can be “organic” if the right papers are shuffled properly. Actually, every substance on earth is organic anyway.
The fact that the US imports so much food (and I use that term loosley) from China is a sin and a crime.

On this forum (pretty much dedicated to discussion and news of H5N1 but many related topics) there has been an ongoing discussion about the China/poison/melamine topic for quite some time. Here is a link to the latest page of the thread:

The Lesson from the Pet Food and Spinach Recalls
There are a lot of knowledgeable people discussing this. You have to tolerate (not on this thread so much) some liberal bias; if you can’t tolerate the occasional leftist opinion don’t go there. There is also a security window thingie that comes up, just click yes and you’re on the site. It’s fine, I’ve been reading the site since its inception.
There is very valuable information about melamine, cyanuric acid (or whatever it is) and so on.

Thanks; that looks like a good site.
As to being able to tolerate some liberal bias, well I did go to school & college in the SF-Bay area, in the 60s...and survived.

After all, no on is born liberal. And they can be cured. I used to be one myself - it was a family tradition. Healing is possible.

I actually got a phone call from them. The man said they were doing a lot of double checking to confirm where their products came from. He did not have an answer for me and left it at that. Pretty scary.
