Excellent point!! I’m actually reading “Infidel” right now; the one by the gal who has had her life threatened for exposing the wonders of Islam. She has quite a bit to say about Somalia, where she was from, and the tribalism there and the crap these clans perpetrate on one another. I have never seen such racism. It’s the Kenyans vs. the fill-in-the blank. It’s this tribe vs. that. Clan vs. clan.

Oberon - you are making me crack up.

P.S. Did you pick your name from “A Midnight Summer’s Dream?”

You are making the point I was trying to make before. How do these kids afford $80 shorts?!! They probably are getting some kind of government aid, considering the neighborhood; housing help, food stamps, etc. If they didn’t steal the money, I really wonder HOW they get it.

When my son was growing up (and we were doing fine financially), I taught him about budgeting. Once he got a certain age, before school would start, he’d be given a clothing allowance. I’d buy the new socks and undies but he had to pick out jeans, etc. and he really impressed me. I taught him how he could splurge on maybe one or two of the more expensive items and the trendy stuff (he was into Nautica back then)but then he’d have to be very frugal with the rest. He’d come home with a lot of stuff and would be very proud of himself.

There’s the answer to why he was committing armed robbery.

We live in a time the Bible says when we call good evil and evil good. This is a generation that knoweth not God (scriptural too). I hate seeing our country in the toilet.

Does anyone have any doubt, that no matter what gun control feed good law is passed, that this culture will ever change?

All I can say is the residents of Mount Pleasanton are welcome to live in their crime hellhole.

A perfect picture of why individuals are responsible for their own safety:

The government could not protect this gentleman when he was required to kill the punk robber. And, even now, can not protect the punk, vigilante response to his having righteously protecting his own life.

This poor man needs to find a way out of the hood. My heart aches for the good and decent people who are stuck in sh—holes like this one. They are true victims.

The youth he killed, Arthur "Ace Boogie" Buford...

Heh. "Ace Boogie"? Are you kidding me? His gang buddies named him "Ace Boogie"? That's racist.

Interestingly enough, the guy who started much of the humor about Cleveland was a native of Cleveland and is now a mentally ill, drug-addicted, homeless man. He just came back to Cleveland and people HERE are taking care of him. He was some big shot in the 60’s and wrote for all the big comedy shows (e.g. Get Smart).

You referring to Pat McCormick? I know he was from Cleveland and involved in the comedy performing and writing for most of the TV in the '60s. But I was also under the impression that he had passed on a few years ago.

FWIW, I am from southeastern Ohio and always had a good time ripping on Cleveland. Once I get past the crazy loon, unionized, liberal goofheads so common in northeastern Ohio, I am quite fond of Cleveland. I have had some good times in that city.

Even though I am a Reds and Steelers fan, we always have the Ohio State Buckeyes in common!

Well at least we have the Buckeyes in common. I like the Steelers when the Browns aren’t involved.

I don’t remember the guy’s name. It may have been Pat McCormick. It is an Irish name. All I know is he was living on the fringes out in Southern California and they put him on a bus and sent him here. People took him under their care and hopefully he’ll get the medication he needs. He has Alzheimer’s and a host of other ills from years of abuse (drugs, alcohol). He was quite rich in his day though and a very handsome guy who hung out with all the “in crowd” back in the day.

I used to feel as you do, but after this incident, I’m wondering who the “good and decent are” anymore. That Mr. Wells still cannot return to his home and some good blacks are afraid to speak out against the crime for fear of retaliation. It’s terrible.

There was an excellent editorial in our paper today by Dick Feagler. He says some hard things about Cleveland and what is ruining this town. I’m in a burb but it’s sad what’s happening and the mayor has said nothing. I think he’s another loser. We’ve had a string of losers....

A couple important points: a) the media may not be reporting those who speak out b) fear is understandable c) local leadership is very important and it is sad that the people can’t manage to elect a good leader.
